Friday: Keep plugging away trying to hit 10,000 steps most days. Didn't hit it every day this week but got walks in every day and kept within my calorie budget (not eating my exercise calories ever), so I'm pretty dang happy with myself. I need to do a little more planting on Sunday (pumpkins, watermelon, peas), so that'll be fitness even if my FitBit doesn't acknowlege as such.

Driving my mom and her dogs home this afternoon (she's been visiting all week). It's about a 2-1/2 hour drive, hit Costco on the way up there. Then the boys and I will stay overnight at a good friend's house, visit, then head back tomorrow. I have lots and lots to do at the house besides gardening - I'd love to plug in a good audiobook and organize the heck out of my garage. It's going to be a great weekend.

Friday Fitness: I have been in the library a lot lately just getting last minute papers and what not done. So when I need a break I am going to take a nice walk around campus. And because I have been living in the library I get terrible fried food to eat. So I plan on actually going to our Dining Commons and getting a nice salad or sandwich.
Have a lovely Friday everyone! happy

Fridaaayyyy attempts at a theme song are failing, as usual.

After being very excited to joining the gym, I haven't been there in like two weeks. First was vacation, and it's like a half hour drive to the gym I joined. I thought that joining one by work would make it easier to commit. And yes, when I am going directly from work to the gym it is much easier. But when I'm home....meh. I'd rather just go on the treadmill. But this week I have no excuse since I'm at work, but I realize I have something planned after work every day. EVERY DAY. Doctor and dentist appointments, getting my mom to appointments, it feels like it's never ending. And even though I'm usually done by 6 or 7 at night, by then I've been running around and I just plain don't want to go.

What i DO have in my favor is that I live very close to Holtsville Ecology Center. And if you lived on Long Island you'd know how very awesome that is. There is a 1 1/2 mile walking/bike trail, through the park. Closed to cars. Resident only. And there's a zoo. A ZOO!!!!!!!!! Walking a mile by the zoo. Freaking fantastic.

So I am on the fence if I want to stay at the gym, because I have the stuff home, and I have great resources close by. Also I don't know what's going to happen during the summer. I might see if I can switch to a closer one.

(A student keeps coming in here and does not understand this is ME time, go away)

Anyway, thats it for now, getting my head together for the weekend.

@all that had great weight lost this week, congrat, you are doing Fabulousflowerforyou

Friday-Fitness, I am really doing great with my weekly fitness, i am doing something i would never have thought. I am training for C25K, it started off like a piece of cake, oh i can't use that wordlaugh now it is getting challenging, but i'm not going to sweat it, i will make it to the end of the trainingwink I have to make sure i do my weight lifting weekly knowing how important it is while losing weight. Tina is right it take a lot of breath to do C25K, and if you are sick with any breathing problem it's will make it very difficult. I will post my workout at the end of the day because i am still calculating my steps for today. Well got to run, that was sent for a laugh pick up my DD from work.(I don't want to think about jogging until next training day)ohwell i had a momentlaugh I hope everyone have a great day today and enjoy your workoutlove

Hi All, Sorry for the late login. It's been a busy day. I saw my surgeon this afternoon and he was really upset. Someone in his office had filed my pathology report without him even seeibg it. Hsaw it for the 1st time today.
He has booked me for surgery onMay 11th. That gives 2 weeks to get all my pre-op stuff done and prepare myself mentally. I'm glad he was able to fit me in so quickly. I'll be in hospital between 4-6 days. My daughter and my sister have both offered to come stay with me when I get home.

For now, I'm going to just keep doing my normal routine and keep myself busy. Thanks for all the support you've all been sending my way.

keep getting as healthy as you can be before surgery. So glad it is soon and there is someone to care for you after

Friday Fitness: I did day 3 week 4 last night of c25k and killed it before it killed me. I'm thinking about redoing week 4 next week before starting week 5 though. I'm still struggling a bit with it and know it's only going to get harder from here.

NSV: I haven't been at the Gym for a long time because I've been using my c25k training as my workout and well the treadmill is in my basement. I had to go into work late today to cover someone's shift and thought I'd stop at the gym to say hi and maybe get a drink or protein shake or something and my old Boot Camp instructor came in behind me. She took one look at me and smile and told me that I really looked great. I told what i had been doing and she was really happy that I'd come as far as I had. On a side note I bought a shirt from the gym to use as a workout shirt. I figured it would remind me of how far I've come when I want to quit(which happens almost daily for some reason). Anyway Have a great day.

Had to share my NSV::::
Ok so my parents own a business and I've worked here for 6+yrs, and their accountant and his wife are friends basically have come to business Christmas's and when my dad's band played out. Well Randy had a stroke last week and it was so shocking and upsetting, but he is doing great, his speech is great no brain damage, just has some numbness on right side and hard to walk with the right side, but he is doing much better thankfully. Well they had to bring paychecks up to the office and his wife came in to give them to me and she was like "you're glenns daughter right?" I said yes, she was like "I thought so but wanted to make sure I was giving this to you and not some stranger, you've lost a lot of weight haven't you? You look great"......I couldn't help but smile and it made me feel good :) NSV for me!!!!

**I also got to see Randy he was in the car, talked to him for a minute. He seemed to be doing well. Scary I mean he is only in his early 50's and he had a stroke. But thankfully he is doing so well**

There is no scientific study that I know of but every time I get close to a major goal I stall out. I am wondering how much influence the mind has on weight loss. I have been eating less and exercising more consistently in the last couple weeks but my weight loss suddenly just stopped, just like when I was two pounds from loosing 100 pounds. Anyone else have this happen to them.

Mine is actually Eninem's - Not Afraid. I don't know why, but it speaks to me. I'm no longer afraid and I will succeed.

@Robyn: how far post op are you? I went to my dietician meeting (I am two months post op) and i'm still on full fluids, soft foods, 6 meals a day at 1/2 cup (but i have to eat in 20 minutes so either 20 minutes or half a cup, which ever comes first) and she wants me to try fome fruit as a small snack just to try.

Lauren, I'm 4.5 months post-op. I had RNY though. Didn't you have a Sleeve? That may make a difference. I know nothing about Sleeves.

At this point, I can eat most things other than most carbs--pasta, bread (I can have a little toast), pizza, etc. Too sticky at this point, though I plan to avoid them later too. I'm a carb addict.

Be warned: Some fruits have more sugar or faster acting sugars. Bananas are the one I can think of, which means it could cause your system to dump. The first time I tried one, I vomited. (ah, memories... laugh ) Now, I have a half of a banana a couple times a week.

Hi Robyn,

yes I did have the sleeve, in theory our healing pattern is faster than yours, but i'm the exception. It's not that I'm not healing, I am. But it's more that they repaired a hiatus hernia at the same time and I think the passage is a wee bit smaller than usual so it really doesn't take a lot to get VERY full down there.

My doctor isn't at all concerned, said we'll wait till six months and if it's still a little tough at that point we will look at ways to open it up a bit.

So it's all good.

Carbs are ugly things aren't they? I have to say i'm ok with that as I am a recovering carb addict.

also, sleeves don't dump. We can get sick, and throw up if we over eat. But it's not dumping syndrome (dumping for those of you who don't understand is when sugar or fats hit the new "stomach" pouch in the RNY patients and immediately either comes right up, or goes straight down (hence dump) it's often accompanied with cramps, headaches and a low grade fever.

We "sleeve" people don't dump, but we can throw up if we eat the wrong food or eat too much, but it's a much slower process. Essentially it's like your throat is a toothpaste tube that's being squeezed until the food comes back up. NOT fun...and totally cured me of any carb cravings whatsoever.

Friday Fitness: Well my legs are still a bit jelly from yesterday, but today i have a C25K run of Week 4 day 3. I have my sit ups at 382 to do today. I also have 500 (approx) stairs to run before Sunday for the Zombie Challenge (I've done 1500) that's about 50 flights. I may do those today just to get it over and done with and it's not hanging over my head.

Of course I may just be crazy to do that. oh and my arm's work out from Women's Weekly. I have that today too. I forgot to do my squats yesterday and I may do those too if I don't kill my legs with the first activities. I'm a compulsive check marker. Meaning that once I put something on my list I need to have it crossed off. Even if I missed the scheduled time for it. So those squats are on my list staring the eveil stare at me.

Busy and fun times!

this happened to me right when i got to the point where i needed to lose an even one hundred pounds and i stayed there for many weeks.
