TOPIC: Suggestions for New Forum Categories?

I would like to be able to put pictures on the forums, but I don't have a photosharing account. I would love if we could just put the pics in our profile. Maybe even put some captions on them, so when I am putting my results onto my profile pics, people know which ones are which.

I would like to see a WLS section for those of us who have gone through it and a way for us to customize our protein and carb and fat requirements.

A advanced section for the body builders ect.

I totally agree with this. I'm a newbie, and I have TONS of questions about things like how to add pictures to your forum posts, etc. Also, it would be nice to have a section specifically for challenges.

I am also a newbie and have found it difficult to find some answers simply searching.

To post you need to go to the forum itself and click create new topic.

it doesn't show up just by going to community > message boards
that's the table of contents when you see the "forum categories" like
introduce yourself
fitness and nutrition
recipes
chit chat fun and games.

Tell the system what your post will be related to... ie if you're posting "grandma's famous bread" recipe you might now want it in "introduce yourself" but in the "recipes" forum may be more appropriate. Once you click on recipes you'll see the "new topic" button in green like other "take action" buttons on MFP

I'm diabetic, can we add a location for blood sugar levels with each meal. I'm just posting currently in my food notes for now. I find it helpful to see when my blood sugars are high and what I have eaten that day to cause the increase in blood sugar. So far I'm down 25 LBS, and loosing more every week. What do other diabetics think? Are your blood sugars going down as you loose weight?

Off Topic Advice forum?
Chit chat, fun, games has a lot of people asking for advice, it would be nice if there was a separate category just for that. Like relationship advice, clothes advice, things like that.

Fact or Fiction category. Or, Debate the Issue category.

I've tried using the groups. It's dead zone. Does anyone have luck using the groups? People suggest it often, but in practicality, is it ever more than a suggestion? So, yes, if there was a way to draw more users into the groups (however that would be possible) that would be a lovely thing to add to your think tank!

Oh, one more thing, if it is at all possible...it would be nice if we could adjust the tiny cropped pics, so it does not crop out our faces.

Wow! I really love this site...it is amazing!!! lots of suggestions, many repeats, but really personally as a newb i would much rather have 20,000 tech improvements to the site than any groups/forums/links etc. I have been using computers since PC's first came out, but how many steps are involved to post a pic?? really??? Log onto another site...no! Kinda ridiculous. No Im not here to meet singles, no i dont need more friends, altho they are great on here... My main focus was and always will be my personal fitness and daily logs. As such, i think reports, tools, and such are misleading. There arent any reports there, not until ive done enough work on the site. I thought it was for say nutrional value of white versus wheat bread, lmao. And no links or exercise info on here at all??? Am I missing it??/ I was shocked to find the exercise tab took me to my daily workout log, and not to a nice selection of fitness workouts that i could choose from and follow towards my healthy weight goal! So the big improvements i think for me would be a newbie FAQ of technical how to's and guides, an actual UPLOAD for pix, (much much less headache 4 all) and thae suggestion I saw on a review forum 4 workouts and equipment.

People who have 100 or 200 or more pounds to lose have special challenges that someone who needs to lose 10-15 pounds does not face. How about a forum category specifically for folks who "have a lot to lose."

Improved search. It's hard to find what I'm looking for when I get the same thread posted 5 times in a row.

notify us when someone posts behind us on a status update (not our own, i receive those) but others' update, lots of times people ask questions of other posters and we don't know it unless we wade through the wall to find that particular post and reread the comments. you could at least offer that as an option in settings. so you could turn it off or on as you choose.

Hi. This is not a suggestion for a new forum category, but something altogether different. The forums, as I have discovered, are hotbeds of dissent, places for people to sound off and I have decided they are not for me. Instead, I would like to see weekly articles written by health professionals or members themselves aimed at disseminating specific information. They could be about exercise, recipes for people with allergies or restrictive diets, discussions about how age and sex affect weight loss. There is no limit to what MFP's members would love to know without the drama the forums engender. I have seen people asking for information regarding gastric bypass surgery and getting conflicting advice. It would be beneficial to have an actual article written by someone with medical knowledge in this area that would lay to rest all the crazy ideas people have. Book reviews of the latest diet and exercise publications. Recipes for vegetarians. How about an article aimed at people who have become overweight due to immobility after an accident. They are not able to exercise like others, so there must be information that would help them achieve their weight-loss goals. While these articles might spawn discussion, that would not be their main function. They would inform with accurate information. Think about it.

I think that is a great idea Steven because we all get to a point where want to say screw it and it would be great to be able to vent to a group and get their feedback. Challenges are always great ways of staying Motivated. I have given myself a challenge of 5pounds by September 23.... Not overly ambitious and acheivable.... so why have I not done it... so here goes . i have never joined forums online this is my first and I kinda excited to see how it goes

I like the idea of a board for swapping clothes that we have outgrown to others as they go through their journey. Clothes, selling fitness items that we no longer use etc.

+1 fantastic idea.

I think it'd be great to add subforums to fitness (cardio, strength or maybe exercise specific ones like running, swimming) as well as food and nutrition (hep/general q's, recipes, veggie/vegan/other dietary lifestyles)

How about boards for different sections of the country? Us southerners may face different fitness challenges in the winter than say a Minnesotan-don't ya know?
