A newbie section for all of the over asked Q's like "should I eat my exercise calories?"
A advanced section for the body builders ect.

It's called the search function.

There should be a category for non-work safe topics and pics. This is an 18+ site, and some of us are fine with adult content (not porn, but a place to share NSFW images of progress pics, talk about grown-up topics, etc.). If someone wants to avoid that stuff, they can simply stay out of the NSFW section.

Could there be a section for people to show progress pics- without threads getting locked? I understand trying to keep the site "work friendly" but I think if someone is wearing under things that should be allowed- we are all adults.

So a section maybe titled : progress pics: and people can look if they want or not.

Jokes aside this is a very good suggestion. It's very frustrating to be a regular MFP user, reach your progress goals and get strikes and warnings for showing your results. This is a fitness site. This sort of thing should be encouraged, not get people in trouble.

The Arena.

When people fight on the boards their posting privileges are revoked EXCEPT for The Arena sub-forum. In there they'll either have to work it out with each other or fight it out until one submits.

I leave it to you guys to figure out the codes to add dramatic music, strobe lighting and fireballs.

Just. Awesome.

An FAQ or a Read This First.

We all see the same questions getting posted repeatedly, so a place to kind of corral these things makes sense.

Thanks Captain Obvious, but I was referring more to the boards instead of groups. This would take care of the progress pics getting deleted because someone can't handle an undies pic or lacks the sense to not look at the forums at work and would be open to all members instead of whoever decided to find that particular group.

I totally agree with this. I'm a newbie, and I have TONS of questions about things like how to add pictures to your forum posts, etc. Also, it would be nice to have a section specifically for challenges.

Rant/Vent forum section...

*Newbies - Eating back calories, BMR, TDEE, etc.
*Single - Looking for Love & everything in between, Etc.
*Adult Chat - If you don't like that sort of thing don't go there!! :)
*No NEGATIVE COMMENTS Allowed - Too many arguments & negativity(negative people) in the threads - Something should be done about that!!

*Pics - Before & After....We all love these threads! (No negatives people in there either)

Isn't that a rule for all of the forums?

I will say that as a mod of another forum anything labeled "New Users" or anything like that is most likely just going to be ignored. It's a thing with people. They don't want to start slow. They want to jump right in to the most active sections of the forum and post "Hey should I be eating back my exercise calories?"

Special forums, search functions, doesn't matter. There's really nothing you can do. The kinds of people who are going to post often repeated questions without looking will do it regardless of how you set up a site.

I think the forum is in desperate need of an "ADULTS ONLY" category where the over 18s can actually talk about "adult" topics and post "adult"-but-not-porn photos without risking a mod attack, strike and banning. A site that states in its TOS that only over 18s can join really should be open to a category like this. :P

Definitely. I also think that the mods need much better guidelines for what constitutes a violation of the TOS and what doesn't. I seems like most of them just kinda delete whatever gets complained about without actually reading or taking the time to look at the context of the comments either.

Anywho, yes, Adult Only section needed.

Agreed. Those threads would become epic pissing matches, just as they are in their respective topic forums.

I guess I don't understand why groups aren't an effective solution for this.

Keep in mind that MFP has demonstrated time and time again that they are not going to allow certain things in the public forums or groups. It's a decision that they've made. Whether that decision was based on business concerns or moral grounds, I can respect it. There are plenty of other outlets for mature images/discussion.
