I don't see any lights or anything?

It should look like a battery on the front where you push down on to check your steps etc, and it will be blue. So when its fully charged it will be solid blue.

If you pull it off the charging station it will momentarily show you the battery--if it's solid blue, it's fully charged. Generally you only need to charge every few days; it lasts quite a while.

Make sure you sign up for the email and/or text messages as well, and when it is low after syncing, you will get anotification to put it on the charger, and it only take a couple hours tops to be fully charged.

There's a light on the device that can be seen when you place it on the charger, but I believe the indicator on your dashboard page is considered more accurate.

On your dashboard page where it shows when you last synced (under your name) it will show your battery level.

Where do you sign up for those notifications?

Go to the Fitbit website and click on your dashboard. Scroll down just a little and on the right where it has the info about you, it tells you when you were last updated and under that it says battery charge level. You can also sign up for text messages to tell you when you are running low. But the battery life seems to last a really long time.
