Hello, old friends. I'm back with my tail between my legs, begging for your forgiveness. I've been gone too long and you know what that leads to.....weight gain. *sigh* But I am trying to focus on the positive and getting back on the horse. I've missed you all. I hope you'll let me come back to the fold.

Hello All,
I'm new here I've used MFP for a while, but I've dropped out before so I figured I needed some support and accountability. I'm pretty close to 300lbs and I have at least 100lbs to lose. Any recommendations from the successful folks out there? |

I wouldn't call myself sucessfull but I've gone from 300+ to almost in the 100s (hopefully by this weekend?). I know I said this elsewhere but you have to be stubborn. I'm not talking just a little either, I'm talking completely bullheaded. This is for you and no one else! NEVER give up and stick to your resolve. If it were easy, no one would ever be fat.
Some tips for food: 1) You can use greek yogurt instead of mayo in egg salad and tuna salad, the extra protein could keep you fuller for longer. 2) Light Silk Milk is less calories than skim milk (it's pretty good in cereal) 3) The Hungry Girl Cookbook is a MUST have! She has good, easy and low calorie meals that don't break the bank. 4) Drink a TON of water and try to get 5-8 servings of fruits and veggies a day, it keeps you from eating high calorie foods since you are already full.

Evening. I've been in the food. Not much else to say. I received a refund from the government and have been spending it madly on everything including food. I have not been planning my food in a good way for awhile now. Tonight I thought, "I will just go through a drive thru on my way home. Get those things that I like so that I won't miss them as much when I am back on track." What a load of crap I tell myself. Now I am frustrated, feel guilty for wanting that crap and for not feeling so motivated lately.
The commitment I once had has been eluding me or I have been hiding from it. I am embarrassed and scared. It's like I can only do one thing well at a time. Since I recommitted to getting my job work done, I have been in the food. I haven't been documenting my food or planning it. I haven't even been on this site much at all lately. I am not sure what I even want for myself anymore. I feel hopeless. Ya, not very inspiring.. sorry. I can't even tell you if I will abstain from the drive thru tonight or not at this point. I don't want to get sick again, but that's a definite possibility if I keep going this way. Just sharing my pity party in case someone else is going through the same stuff and feels alone. Tara

Hello everyone.. I have been doing a lot of lurking on this thread.. Could nto seem to find my footing .. I have found new inspiration. A new body for a trip to New York City in Sept of 2013.. That means I need to lose 100lbs by then.. thats is a year and a half to do it in... I want to take my daughter to a broadway show for her 16th birthday.. and go shopping of course.. would be awesome to have the ability to shop in the reguralr misses size clothes instead of plus size... and really would like to feel like walking everywhere and going to the top of the empire state building to look out.. (that is if I can get over the heights thng)
I will be checking in more often.. Kat

Tara...you deserve to be in control...you are worth it....make yourself your favourite non-fast food meal...even if it is heavier calorie you deserve real food, not salt and fat disguised as food....I know it is now a meal or two later....sorry I wasn't here last night.
hugs and encouragement Beth

welcome katdanash!
Tara - if you're driving home from work, and think you might have a weak moment - put your purse in your trunk. you can't go through a drive-thru then! ;) how silly would it be to get out of your car and circle around to the trunk to get your purse? you can do this. we aren't perfect, we're people, you can't be 100% all of the time, the thing is, you don't beat yourself up, "you get back up on that horse!"

In an EXTREMELY busy season and haven't been able to post much...Working full-time, taking 6 college credits this class session, and am less than 2 weeks out from our hugechurch Easter Drama I'm directing, and also teaching other classes at church. Not to mention keeping up with my husband and two young sons. Can you say exhausted??? Amazingly, enough, I haven't strayed from my eating plan at all, I continue to log every bite, and I am continuing to lose weight. Just a bit over 82 pounds so far! Almost half-way to my ultimate goal! Whoo hoo! I've crossed the threshold into knowing that I've truly committed to the reality of this lifestyle change in the way eat. Making it through this season successfuuly where food is concerned has proven to me that I really can do this! In year's past, working through the weeks leading up to our annual Easter production became a time where I literally ate fast-food 2-3 times every day as I was running between work and the church, but not this year!!! VICTORY!!!
Now, I'm about to get off work and head to the costume shop for some special effetcs makeup items, then to the church to teach a leadership class, then home to turn in an assignment for school. Then...pass out!!! LOL

Good Afternoon,
Things are motoring along here, I'm still stalled in a plateau. But that's ok, my mom talked me through that one and I feel better for it. Sometimes mom's fix everything. About a week ago, I became very frustrated with being the chief cook and bottle washer for the family, especially since I'm almost one month post op (March 28th!) and I can't eat any of the foods I'm preparing. I don't crave them, I don't want them, I mostly resent putting in a large amount of effort preparing things for people who don't seem thankful for it. So I copied a whole bunch of slow cooker recipes from the thread on MFP and started using my slow cooker. I just felt that if I spent 20 minutes throwing things into a pot and then walking away from it, at least I didn't spend an hour slaving over a meal no one appreciated. Hallelujah....what a change...everyone LOVES the meals, everyone raves about dinner now and I'm spending 20 minutes throwing sh*t into a crockpot... we have a winner folks!!! Why did it take me so long to figure this out? LOL...i could have used this WEEKS ago. Lauren

Usually if I'm feeling like cheating I'm also feeling lazy or depressed and there is no way I'd put in all the effort of stopping and going to the trunk for drive through, or at least I don't think so. I used to have the bad habit of eating on the road when we'd get chinese take-out to bring home and started putting the food back by the third row seat so I couldn't get to and its been working great. Also sometimes if you give yourself some time while your thinking about cheating after a minute or so you'll snap out of it and hopefully move on. |

That said first weigh in tomorrow eek! On one hand week one is usually an abnormally high number if you stick with it which i have but still a little nervous.
I'd say week went 95% as planned, over by a few hunded calories a couple days but no real binges or big cheats thankfully. |
