TOPIC: Sync Issue with FitBit

Well, at least until they fix this problem. Unlink and relink is fine by me. They should just have a button you can press from MFP that would force a sync when you know there is data to get. Better than waiting around and "hoping" that it syncs up.

Excellent idea, indeed.

Unsync/ resync worked for me this time. But it doesn't always. Thank goodness it did. How aggrivating!!

I have heard that sometimes when there is two fitbit near each other they sometimes cause down loading issues.

I too have had issues with mfp and fitbit syncing togeither. I contacted fitbit, they couldn't find any issues and they contacted mfp. It has been better the last few days, but slow. I really hope they find the bug (either side) as they are such great tools to use together!

Disconnecting and then reconnecting the accounts from the MFP website worked for me, too. I had not tried that before.

Yep... unlink then relink. Not too inconvenient and an easy enough workaround.

Unlink; relink....still not communicating.....grrrrr.....grumble

Apparently I've been linked with my Fitbit since September, when I signed up here. Fitbit syncs perfectly with my LoseIt.com account, but I see nothing here with any shared information.

I LOVE my fitbit and it has been helpful in monitoring my daily steps and my sleep. It is beginning to crack right now, and I'll definitely buy an Ultra now.

Unlinking/relinking is not working today. This is not good. Hope I'm not the only one. Food imports to the FitBit account though. I'll rely on that but those numbers are always more forgiving, that is, it indicates a greater deficit than the MFP numbers (all else being equal).

This problem is every day now.

yes, my fitnit will not automatically download. I uninstalled it and re-installed it on my laptop, but it only updates when I have it plugged in. Does anybody from Tech Suppoort read these?

Mine was doing that and i checked help and it said to take a paper clip and push it into the button on the bottom of the charger. Mine synced after that

This is all very interesting. I started on MFP, then bought fitbit. Did not see anything recording on MFP site from my fit bit so went to recording food etc in fitbit.com But I have found the food items, and records are better in MFP. Did not know other people were having problems with their fitbit. It is an expensive little add on if it does not help

I thought the unlink/relink was working but I found I ended up with the exercise session I'd logged on MFP recorded 4 times on the Fitbit website. I unlinked and deleted sessions on Fitbit but now I'm stuck with nothing going back and forward between Fitbit and MFP. This and the problem of disappearing My Foods, reported in another post, is not giving me a very good impression of integration between the two websites, which is a pity because the Fitbit site is pretty bad for recording foods.

I wish someone would get back to us. Fitbit is syncing fine with my MAC but absolute no data is coming across to MFP. Is anyone in technical support reading these comments?
March 19, 2012 12:39
After just using Fitbit for the last week I decided to drop MFP altogether. Fitbit has better tools anyway. Thanks to MFP for turning me on to someone else though.

I love the Fitbit, but I have had the similar syncing problem. I now put the Fitbit on the dock when I sit down at the computer. I leave the fitbit site and check my mail or write an email and that seems to give it time to sync to the My Fitness Pal. Hope this info will help you.

FitBit does not seem to have an accurate recording of my calorie intake from MFP.

Thanks Fish.

I found this reply on the technical support message board in reference to fitbit not synching. This definitely seems to answer my questions when it seems like my fitbit is not synching -- I just wasn't burning enough calories in fitbit more than myfitnesspal was giving me credit for. I jsut need to walk, run, exercise more and then I will see the 'negative' calories.

Is anyone having a problem with Fitbit calculating more steps than you are actually taking?

Okay everyone with MFP and fitbit sync issues!!!!

Go to fitbit and disallow MFP first

Then go to MFP, TOOLs, learn more about fitbit ultra tracker

Then delink fitbit.

In same window relink fitbit, and you got sync action!!!!!!!!

Nope... did not work.

No, mine tends to under-record. Some mornings I count my steps as I walk around before getting to Fitbit, and when I sync, it says I have ZERO steps. I guess I walk softly in the morning, but it makes me wonder.
