My fit bit will only record stairs if I run up the stairs and even then sometimes it doesn't record it at all. Yesterday it recorded 13 flights of stairs. I had actually ran upstairs yesterday more like 19 times. Does anyone else have this problem.

no, my fitbit is very accurate on our stairs. I was surprised I have a stair goal, I thought jeesh this thing senses I live in a two story? I used to put items at the bottom of the stairs to make fewer trips up. At some point I noticed I needed to make the trip up as much as possible. Now with that fitbit goal I usually make 2 trips for every time I need to go upstairs.

My poor little Toy poodle really thinks I've flipped. she used to race me up or down the stairs, but now she waits at one end to see if I'm going up or down again.

back to your issue, I saw a post on the forums about resetting the fitbit, I recommend you call customer service.

There has been much discussion of stairs. It is very accurate with the stairs in my building, but it kind of depends on the height of the stairs. I think it is something like a 10 feel gain in altitude you need so sometimes if you are just a little short in a flight the number comes out a little less than expected. The other thing I've noticed (and others have) is if you stop or pause to long you can miss that flight. I do stair laps in my building and if I meet someone on the stairs and slow down for them or chat then I tend to miss that flight. If I meet no one and go up fairly briskly I get all of them.

I have noticed as well that it doesn't count them if you stop or pause so I don't stop or pause. The stairs in my house are 12 steps. I am not sure the height of the steps. I just know that I have to run up the flight of steps for it to have a chance of counting.

I believe the "average" number of stairs is like 15-17

I have totally the opposite problem. Its recording an awfully lot more stairs than ive actually climbed. I know it detects a certain elevation, but I live in a very flat country that doesnt have hills. Im just ignoring the stairs climbed thingy - i dont see it matters too much, as long as its accurate on the steps taken & the calorie burn (which it seems to be) im happy.

Hope u find a solution :)

I have the opposite problem too! I have no stairs at my house or place of work, but it is recording one flight each day!

I noticed that yesterday too, I just got my fitbit a couple nights ago, so I was checking out, trying the different features. I went up/down my basement stairs 6 times and it only recorded 4.

Tonight I put my fit bit on my pocket ( I usually wear it on my bra) and it recorded all of my stair steps. I am not sure if this is a fluke or not. I will try it again on my pocket for when I want to go up the stairs and see if it is more accurate.
