I have noticed i eat it every morning, for breakfast (cinnamon pecan, vanilla almond, and recent chocolate delight). It is one of the "healthier" cereals against cocoa puffs, captain crunch, kellogs corn flakes, etc. Is this a bad thing to eat every morning and bad for weight loss? i love eating this most morning before class because it easy and it tastes good. everyone keeps saying eating cereal for breakfast is bad.

What do you think? i want honest opinions.

if you are counting calories it is kinda bad depending on how much cereal it takes for you to be full... also dont be fooled by the diet cereals. ull find that fruit loops is less calories and a bigger serving size then special k and kashi go lean.

think of it this way, for the nay sayers, cereal is a better choice then eggs, toast and bacon. if u like cereal eat it! just make sure ur keeping track of the portion it takes to fill u.

ex. in my case 330 calories worth of cereal is what fills me but it only takes about 260 calories of egg whites and a tortilla to do the same. i hope u get what im getting at. im bad at explaining myself.

i find that not eliminating every single food that makes u happy, encourages u to stick to ur diet... gl

honestly it takes about 1 cup to a little over (120-150) and 2 percent milk is another 120 calories ish.

I found it wasn't filling enough. My favorite is post great grains, it is delicious and far more filling than special k. 190 calories for 1 cup isn't terrible, and it keeps me full longer. Its great for fiber as well. I work nights so i eat breakfast at my 4 am break, i don't get another chance to eat til 9:30 when i leave work and this plus a fruit keeps me going.

There's a lot of sugar in Special K and it really depends on what diet school you're following... for me, Special K has high fructose corn syrup, which I won't consume under pretty much any circumstance. That's my main beef with it, but if you're not concerned about sugar intake, then you're probably fine. I would suggest that you switch to a lower sugar cereal, such as Cheerios or even Crispix.

Be sure to measure the cereal. The calories can add up quickly if you don't.

I don't buy it, £3 for a box of none filling and sugary cereal does not cut it against a nice warm bowl of organic jumbo oats at half the cost and calories

That's not to say I don't like the taste of Special K!

I have been eating Special K cereals for 3 years, almost every day. I lost 45# doing so. I only like the Cinnamon Pecan, Fruit & Yogurt or Chocolatey Delight (120 Cal 3/4C each) with 1/2C fat free milk at 40 calories. Bump it to 1 C cereal for 160 calories, 1/2C FF milk and 1/2C frozen mixed fruit at 45calories for 245 calories. Of course I add 1/2Tbsp EVOO for another 60 calories but all in all it keeps me plenty satisfied until lunch. Satisfies a sweet tooth, nutritious and filling - for me.
