My 20 yr old daughter was 80kg and 1.61m tall. Not that heavy by some standards, but was advised by my endo doc to lose some weight as there is a lot of diabetes on my husbands side of the family and I have hypothyroidism. Although she wasn't eating much she wasn't losing weight. The doctor put it down to insulin resistance and put her on metformin, and refered her to a dietician. She has now dropped to 74kg, slowly but its a start.
She had blood tests which showed that Vit B12, Vit D and iron were low. Low cal diets can do a lot of damage, a diet has to be well balanced for all nutriants; for age, sex, health problems and life style.
