There is no "weighted hula hooping" exercise in the database. There is "wii hula hooping" but I'd like to see regular weighted hula hooping added.

Thanks!

You can add it yourself.

I found this link that you can figure out your own calories burned using this formula. I sometimes wear a heart rate monitor while using my weighted hoop and it is pretty accurate. Hope this helps in the meantime. flowerforyou

According to the ehow website, it says that 30 minutes of moderate hul hooping burns around 200 calories. Not sure how accurate it is but, it's a starting point. I usually only do about 5 minutes of hula hooping. I thought it would be an inexpensive way to firm up my abs. It's too early to tell but, it's fun and I add it to my daily workout! Good luck!

I use a weighted hoop and wore my heart monitor yesterday while using it.
I only burned 33 calories in 10 minutes. ;-(
But then, I'm pretty darned efficient at it. I still think it's good for the waist, but wouldn't really give just waist hooping a great cardio score.

Torregro ~ I have figured out how to do different exercises for my upper thighs and hips with my hula hoop and very much enjoy it. Yesterday I plugged myself into my iPod and jammed for 45 minutes hula hooping. This all with my 'wave' hula hoop, which I know is not at all like using a weighted hoop. My new weighted hula hoop will be here on Wednesday ~ check back with me then to see if I am still alive!! :-)

Good luck with your weighted hula hoop. One warning. If you've not used a weighted hula hoop before, be careful about overdoing it the first few times. When I first started using it, I was very enthusiastic about it and used it too long. The next day, it felt like I'd been kicked in the ribs because the weight keeps "slapping" you around the body.
I had to work with a towel pinned around my waist for the next three days! LOL

I just bought a hula hoop today to start adding to my exercise routine. Thought it would be fun to do while watching TV some nights. I don't watch much TV... Maybe 2 hours a week. But at least while I do that I could be exercising!
