How can I find just calorie counting and nutritional info on fresh fruit and vegetables. Also want to be able to add just few dairy items etc. and find calorie count. I just started today and find this part very frustrating.

I usually type in fresh "cantelope" and trust what comes up with the most confirmation. ... hope that helps

try www.caloriecount.com

I use it to find most nutritional data on everything, but also has for fruits, veggies, etc. Just like the back of a cereal box! Good luck!!flowerforyou

I know what you mean, it is frustrating trying to find fresh foods or ingredients, not packaged food with the name of the vege in the title.
There are few things that seem to work - adding the word "fresh" or "raw" often helps. And as you find these items, they will show up in your favourites list, so it does get easier!

I've found that the non-user submitted entries for things like fresh fruits and raw meats (the ones without astericks beside them) are the most accurate for things that don't have nutrition labels on them already.

I usually put in raw (add your fruit or vegi here) for the most part and a carrot is a carrot and a banana is a banana so i feel pretty safe on the accuracy.

Thanks to all for suggestions. Will try them. I was hoping this website had it's own quick calorie counter.

just type in the name and look for the one that doesn't have a " * " by it. there is only one without a star and that is the one that has been put in by mfp and not just a user. I almost always use the serving size of 100 grams and then put in a decimal for how much I used. For example: for 79 grams you would enter 0.79 servings. they have these for spices, fruits, vegetables, cuts of meat...much more accurate than just picking something that another user has posted and trusting that it's accurate because I have seen some with many confirmations and checked a food label right in front of me and they had the info wrong! Frustrating...

also...make sure you spelled it correctly if you can't find it. :) i had trouble finding cantaloupe because I didn't realize it had a U in it!

This website has the most complete and thorough food database of any I've found. It does take a little getting used to when you're searching. You'll not find another that has as many entries, at least I couldn't!
