I'm just at my 8 cup mark, and I'm beginning to feel nauseous. This isn't the first time, either; I just happened to remember that it did this to me, so I thought I'd see if someone knew the cause.

What usually happens is that I start feeling weird stomach-wise and my head begins to hurt as well. It's just plain water from the water fountain, no mix ins whatsoever.

Any ideas, thoughts.. anything? lol.

do you sip it or gulp it down?

is it all consumed basically at once or is it spread over the day? I know when I suddenly have a lot of fluids I can feel nauseated, and for me it's because my stomache wants to deal with what's filling it up and there's nothing but water in there, so I spread my water out over the whole day.

To be honest, I absent-mindedly drink it while I work on my pc. I have a 32 oz. fastfood water cup. So I guess you can say I moderately drink it fast?

Acid reflux (GERD) can sometimes cause nauseas after drinking water, especially on an empty stomach. Drinking lots of water in one shot while exerting yourself can also make you nauseated.

If you don't have GERD and only feel sick after drinking tap water, it may be the copper or water residues. Try bottled or filtered water and drink it in small amounts (not gulping), and preferable with food.

I can't drink lots of water between meals either, even when working out, because I also feel sick afterward.

I get sick also.
Although I tend to chug mine because I'm in a rush to get my 8 oz in...which I usually fail at.
But yeah...mabye drinking it slower...through the day will help.

Drinking water on an empty stomach is the number 1 cause of acid reflux for me, followed closely by excessive coffee on an empty stomach, I start to get sick or nauseous too. Keep some Tums with you or a banana or granola bar. Drink slowly, make that 32oz water last a while.

Remember keeping your body hydrated is the goal, drinking enough water at once to get nauseous is defeating the purpose. You wouldn't sit down and try to eat all of your daily cals in one or probably even two meals would you?

Try not to fixate on the numbers, counting calories and ounces of water is a means not a goal. Just try to stay hydrated.

You make a very good point!
Thanks for the info, everyone! I'll try to not drink like a fish anymore. :)

If you try alkaline water it helps. I get the same thing, very nauseous when I drink water on an empty stomach. I was told once it was due to the water being on the acidic side. Most bottled waters are acidic along with tap water. Fiji water is ph neutral, so that helps and I can usually drink a lot of it, but with alkaline water I can drink as much as I want with no problems. I get my alkaline water from a Osteopathic Doctor office here in my hometown.
