So after lunch I am over my protien allowance by 10 grams (due to a protein shake in the morning), is too much protien bad? Can I have more for dinner? Kinda hard not to.

I always wonder the same thing! I'm usually over quite a bit every day...usually by 20 grams or more! Does anyone have any insight as to if this is a bad thing? I've heard that too much protein can be bad for the kidneys and kind of worry about that.

I've heard that it's ok to go alittle over on your protein.
I discovered right away when I first came to this site that I had a HUGE problem with WAY too much protein. Since I've cut down to "around" the total set for me, I've been steadily losing weight! It's really hard to stay under though. In order to do that, I mainly have oatmeal for breakfast, and salad for lunch. And then I have most of my protein amount left for some meat at supper time!

This site tends to under estimate your protein needs. I think this site does 16% (I'll check on that in a few). It's perfectly reasonable for a healthy adult who is doing at least some exercise to have a protein level of 25 to 30%, higher if you are weight training as well.

OK I just checked, MFP sets protein at 18%, which is pretty low.

Sooo...how much should we really be eating? I just double checked mine for the day and it shows that I'm going to be 42 grams over (total of 94 grams and they recommend 52). My calorie intake will be 1346 of 1413 allotted. How bad is this? I find it hard to stay within the protein recommendations every day. I am always right around where I should be for proteins, usually under on fat, and right around where I should be for calories. Hmm...

Hmm... well if 54 grams is 18% of your total then 94 is probably around 30%, which isn't too bad, but I would probably try to stay somewhere around 80 grams or so, that should be around 25% I think. I would need to know your full grams of fat, carbs, protein to know for sure.
