My BMR is 1,387 per day.
I have a relatively sedentary work life, but I don't drive a car and walk everywhere to do shopping, catch a bus, go to the bank in my neighborhood, etc. I am a teacher, so I do stand in my classroom (I NEVER sit) for about 20 hours per week.

I've set my weight loss goals at 1 lb per week and the recommended net calories is 1,230. Is that serious? I feel absolutely starving if I eat less that 1,500 and that feels like a manageable diet to me...but 1,230 cals seems like starvation!

can all these calculators be real? I am not overweight...I am in my target zones for a young woman of 28, I just want to loose a few pounds so I can fit into old clothes and get the boost in energy and a spring in my step that I had in my early 20s....

if you're standing all day i'd up the daily activity level to lightly active. sedentary is for people that sit at a desk all day. This should give you more calories. also, you get to eat all of your excercise calories so track them and eat them and your calories will go up quite a bit as well. flowerforyou good luck and welcome!

Kerri is right, You are NOT sedentary dear. Far from it.
You walk a LOT and this is probably why your weight is not high!
Change that and see if that does not sound better to you. flowerforyou

All the walking you do counts as exercise, that can easily add a couple hundred calories per day. You also may want to look at what types of food you are eating. Refined carbs are not very filling for the calories while fruit and veggies are much more filling.

Yeah...diet is not an issue for me. I am a dedicated and well read vegetarian of 17 years....wow! I can't believe it!
Okay...maybe I'll change my goals a bit too. I am in no big hurry, I just want to develop new habits and become more aware of my progress.

Thanks
