End of another week! How'd everyone do this past week? I got in 76 miles--86 if you count the 10 on the virtual bike at the gym.

The last few days have been just brutal here as far as weather. This morning, it was 82 degrees outside at 5:00am! Supposed to have storms later and then more HOT weather tomorrow with storms moving in.

Haven't been on the bike since Thursday but did use the virtual one at the gym yesterday and think I might go back today after church. It's such a good work-out! I only did 10 miles but with the hills the program had, my thighs feel like I rode 40 miles! Hoping I can get back out on the "real" thing though Tuesday morning--supposed to cool down somewhat.

Going biking this morning - just 10 miles around the base loop near my house. Just getting started really. This will be my second 10 mile ride.

Great--10 miles is a good ride. It took me a month to get up to 10 miles!

Last week 64.10.

I just got back from a 16.3 mile ride in the 91 degree heat. I think I'll go to the pool and cool off.

I did over 100 miles and my goal was 75! I took yesterday off.

This weeks goal will also be 75. We are going away for the 4th, but plan on taking the bikes. Have a lot of other things to do though so not sure when we will get it in.

Weather here is still sucking--storms, hot, humidity, just gross. Went to the gym again and got in 10 miles on the virtual bike on a mountain routine. I'm really hoping to get out on the road tomorrow morning!

If you go to mapmyride.com, you can plot the route that you rode and find out how many miles it was you rode. It's free to sign up, too.

Had planned to take our bikes with us today for our long weekend but it does not look like there will be much time to ride. We are doing some canoeing and other fun outdoor stuff so I will have to really kick it up a notch next week since I have not gotten much in this week.

Have a great 4th!!

We just got back for four days at our farmhouse. Bikes didn't go with us. Probably a good thing b/c we had LOTS of other fun stuff to do. We canoed down the Tallapoosa River here in Alabama. Got caught in one heck of a thunderstorm...it was very scary! We saw some tents on the bank and hoped to find some kind people that might have some shelter. We had our kids with us and I was FREAKING out.

Only in Alabama can you pull up on a riverbank in a thunderstorm and meet people that know people you know. SMALL WORLD! We were in the middle of nowhere and had several mutual connections with these people that gave us shelter for an hour.

We survived the storm, the sun came out and we had a great day.

Back to the bike tomorrow!!

You folks are inspirational! happy I have had a lousy bike week but hope to get "back in the saddle" again. My job is my biggest hindance to any outdoor activity right now because I am "on call" which means I can do anything I want to as long as I can respond to a patient within an hour (in a suit, nice and clean). I have two interviews this coming week. They are 9-5 and within biking distance. I have had family heart come for the fourth, all my biking buddies went away for a long weekend. brokenheart I have played taxi for my teens. AAaaaarrrrrgggg! I long for the peace and solitude and challenge of riding. Did I mention the rain? I was only able to do 17 miles this week. sad Needless to say, I have recovered from any strain I had done to my overly round bod. Its time to get my ride on! bigsmile

My schedule for the week of June 29-July 5 was

Bike 16.30 miles on Sunday
Bike 23.55 miles on Thursday
Bike 37.3 miles on Saturday
for total of 77.15 miles.

This week, so far:

Bike 13.90 miles on Sunday
Bike 18.7 miles today
I will be doing 27 miles on Saturday in a triathlon, so no more biking until then. I've got to rest my legs!
The distance is nothing, it is only the first step that is difficult.

20.2 miles today hot, hot, hot! Humid, humid, humid!
32.4 miles for the week, rain, rain, rain.

The really great news is that now I have a new job and I don't have to do call any more. Work is 4.9 miles from home, mostly on a BIKE LANE! Woo Hoo! I hope to find out if they are bike friendly on Monday but at that distance I could walk to work in a tie! I can now ride early in the morning before traffic and late until it starts to get dark.

Celebrating 28th wedding anniversary today. Taking sweetie to dinner!
