i love sauerkraut... but once i joined mfp and became more aware of exactly how much sodium i was getting (i have high BP), i have had to pretty much do without.
i sorta mis-read a label on a bottle of sauerkraut yesterday and instead of the 240 mg sodium i thought it said.. per 1/2 cup.. it was actually 240 mg sodium per 2 tbsp!!!!!

So my quest began to find low sodium sauerkraut.. (not YET at the point where i want to make my own so wanted to be able to purchase it)..
and i actually found some today!

90mg sodium per 1/2 cup!!

Let's just say i was thrilled!
The brand is 'Polka' and is imported... i've not found it in regular supermarkets but DID find it today in a small 'polish foods' grocery store today... yay!!!

So just thought i would mention it in case anyone else was having same problem with the sodium and missing their sauerkraut *S*

I love sauerkraut, but like you, I pretty much gave it up due to the sodium, except for special occasions. Thank you for this tip! I don't know if I'll be able to find it locally, but I'll certainly keep an eye out for it. Thanks!
