TOPIC: Export Data

January 19, 2012 5:43 PM
You mean like the two solutions offered here? Either one, implemented with a GUI on the website, would do what has been requested for so long. (I'm a newbie, but this is the one thing that MFP lacks from my point of view, and I've looked through half a dozen threads each of which mention that this is a years-long standing request.)

Posting mostly so I can find this thread again.

They should create their own XML Schema Definition, update it as the site changes - and publish it. They should give users the ability to export and import their data in XML format.

I know this is an old thread, but I thought I'd let you lot know I've updated the tool on my website for exporting CSV files from MyFitnessPal so that you can enter the dates you want to export. It also offers different methods depending on if your diary is public or private.

You can find the tool here -> http://www.designbyvh.com/mfp2csv.php

Hope it helps!

Booo. I want the export for my check-ins/progress (weight, and other measurements). The printable diary doesn't include that information. So I'm going to have to start recording into another site, since it's not possible to get graphs that match up :(

But I like myfitnesspal so my for everything else.

For those interested. I use Google Docs instead of Excel but the following will download your Fitness and Exercise data from myFitnessPal

A1 "Start Date" : =today() -n
A2 "MyFitnessPal UserName" :

n=number of days into the past you want to retrieve

Actual Import Function
=importxml("http://www.myfitnesspal.com/reports/printable_diary/"&A2&"?from="&A1,"//tr")

That will give you the raw data. Then you can have other functions parse the data as you need it. I've put together a pretty comprehensive spreadsheet if anyone needs some ideas.

Oh how I wish this was possible - I'd love to export to Excel! Especially for workout details!

This was great! I didn't realize that there was a printable diary option. I followed the steps to import to Excel, and I found that if I selected paste special and then text it would format pretty well.

So I went ahead and figured out how to do it for you Excel folks!

Go to Data -> From Web

Address: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/reports/printable_diary/username?from=startDate

Click on the yellow arrow in the top left corner of the myFitnessPal site, it will turn green. Hit enter twice and enjoy your data!

Note: username=your username, startDate=YYYY-MM-DD

Yes, I would really like an export feature so I could run some of my own analytics (e.g.,crosstabs, regressions, etc). Having a simple feature to dump this into Excel would allow me to do these kinds of things and answer interesting questions that I have about my eating habits

I would also like to see an export data feature implemented on the site. Yes, people can do their own workarounds, but it would be much cleaner to have to done server side.

I looked at the source of the weight chart page and saw that it refers to this link
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/reports/results/progress/1/90

That's an XML file that has dates and weights

Similarly calories consumed are available here...

Adding my vote for being able to export data...

Or at least being able to do more different kinds of reports.
