TOPIC: MyFitnessPal App Enhancements: Post em here friends!

November 16, 2013 10:12 PM
Unless I'm missing something, the app doesn't give my any calorie credit for lifting weights, only cardio.

2 suggestions:

1) Adjust daily sodium based on exercise (similar to what is done with calories, etc).

2) Allow more than 6 categories in food diary display.

Would love the ability to share recipes with friends

Android App used to not refresh after commenting (only when I would re-open the app). Now that it refreshes every time it is hard to keep up commenting on all my friends' statuses.

Hello There!

I'm not sure if it's been addressed before - but here is my enhancement recommendation:

I think it's awesome that you guys have made it possible for the Runtastic App to sync itself to MyFitnessPal. I LOVE that! I would like to request that not only does it show our calories burned and what we were doing; I would like it to also grab the actual mileage data. For example: Brenda_Pancakes burned 300 calories doing Walking/Running 2.76 miles, Runtastic. If there was also a way to track our mileage for the week in the exercise reports, that would be cool too... But I'd be appreciative just to have the mileage on there with it. It makes me feel accomplished.

Thank you!

Need to connect the Garmin Connect app to MFP...just like runkeeper. Both runkeeper and garmin add the ability to pull over the maps, distance, calories, heart rate, etc. Really would like one app that could work with everything and manage it all in one place. That would be a dream.

My frequent foods list has several pages of items, including some I haven't selected in months and many only used once. It would be good to be able to delete items from the list. It also would be good to be able to search the list.

A great enhancement would be the ability to "share" a meal with friend. Example, I made a dinner for me and my wife. I entered everything into MFP under my dinner. Instead of her having to look up everything too, I could click the little wrench icon and "share with friend". ????? Just a thought.

Another request to provide recipe import capabilities. It would be great to be able to import the nutritional data directly from many of the major recipe sites (e.g.,,, epicurious, etc.) and recipe management software (e.g., Living Cookbook, MasterCook, etc.).

You should be able to manually delete "recent" foods via website and smart phones. I know a lot of people want to be able to delete their "recent" foods like they can their "frequent" foods.

Why, even if I'm losing weight, the strawberries in my stats line are not moving? See below. And also, in MY HOME, it says I've lost 0 kgs, but that's not true. The only place where I've seen changes is on the left of the stats line, where it now says 11 kgs to go (instead of 12). Help me, please. Thanks.

Any plans to team up with training peaks so my workouts transfer to my account?

Would love an app for the BlackBerry z10. I had a friend download the Android version to my phone but since it's for android I can't update it. So all I can do is add or remove food and exercise. I can't do status updates or see my friends on it at all.

It would be great to be able to have additional meals listed. I have to have 7 mini meals. I can only set up I think 5 or 6. Any chance of adding more?

or even adjust recipes!

If you are friends in myfitnesspal and allow friends to see your food diary, i believe she should be able to go into your food diary and copy your dinner into her food diary. My husband and I do this...

Hello members and dev team. First off, just to clarify I am using the MyFitnessPal app for the Android OS. I find myself most often using the weight tracking feature. I enjoy seeing my progress on the graph, however I would like to request a feature that uses linear regression analysis to create an interpolation/extrapolation line of your weight loss or weight gain on this graph (similar to what you can do with dual axis data in an excel spreadsheet). An option to turn this feature on/off could appear in the settings menu under the "fitness goals" sub-menu for convenience. This would allow the user to get a visual approximation of the average weight loss/gain (though regression != average) and to approximate when they might hit their goal. The extrapolation should end at the users defined goal weight as so they do not see their weight trend approach infinity or zero.

In addition, a text output of the average weight loss/gain per week would also be much appreciated and I'm sure it could find a good home to the right of of the "lost" and "streak" outputs that are next to the users profile picture and under the username in the main pull out menu.

On a side note, the website dev team might consider adding "myfitnesspal" and/or "MyFitnessPal" to the spell check dictionary for text areas as they currently show up as unrecognized words. Feel free to contact me if any clarification is needed.

I think it would be a great idea to have under the progress tab, a photo progress section. Each week when you weigh in, you can put in your weight and take a picture of yourself to see how you have come along

It would be reall nice to see "Resistance Band, Balance Ball" type exercises added to the database.

I might be missing something basic, but I can't delete foods I've entered for a meal on the iPhone app.

I plan my day and then make adjustments as I go, so I often need to delete food(s) as I've changed my mind about what i'm actually going to eat and i can't figure out how to do it without going to the website.

So if it isn't there please add this, if it is, could someone please enlighten me.

It's okay, i've figured it out

Include the C210K Zenlabs app as one of those that can be synced with MFP. Currently only C25K is linkable

1) Add section for Vitamins and Supplements to the existing list of "Breakfast", "Lunch", "Dinner", "Snacks"
2) Allow selection of multiple items within a category at once for pre-existing entries. For example, under breakfast, I currently have to click through numerous fields many times to add Oatmeal, Milk, Blackberries, Bananas, etc. It would be great if I could put a check box next to my breakfast items for the day and add them all at once.
3) Figure out a way to account for healthy pregnancy diet and nutrients/supplements as well as appropriate weight gain according to proscribed Dr. basic recommendations (for example, 1 pound a week during the third trimester"

Yes.....we need a section for vitamins and supplements :-)
And if you could list more nutrients also, that would be nice :)

I agree.....I entered my breakfast before I left home, based on what I was going to order for breakfast....then I ended up eating something else....there was no way to delete the breakfast food, so I just had to change the serving to 0 - the item is still listed for breakfast, but with no caloric value.....there should be a way to delete......thanks
