I would like to suggest to Myfitnesspal that users be allowed to input specific macronutrient totals by gram for those of us that follow an IIFYM style nutrition program. The percentage base the site currently uses does not let me input my goals specifically. How many others out there would like to see this change? I know in the fitness/figure/bodybuilding community this change would be a godsend!!!

It would also be cool if there was a way to incorporate carb rotations into the tracking instead of doing in manually. I know that may get really complex when it comes to programming but it would be AWESOME!!happy love

I came up with a workaround for better macro tracking (grams, 1% increments, fill a macro with calories not assigned to the other two), basically adding IIFYM-friendly features to your goal setup. A lot of people have found it helpful:

+1 for carb rotations, or at least a way to set up multiple goal profiles and assign them to a given day.

Amazing. @CaptainWillar Thanks for the script> finally, I can fine tune my macros.

Tagging to save the script. Right now by some miracle the 5% increments actually hit my protein and fat magically within a gram of where I want them to be, but that will change at some point as my weight changes...plus, I'd like my exercise calories to flow all to my carbs instead of the other 2 (right now I just do that in my head but it would be much cooler to actually see). Would love if the site gave that option...I understand why they do it in percentages, for exercise calories, but you could also include a section that would allow users to choose how they want their exercise calories distributed and kill both birds with one stone.

Ok, follow up question and full disclosure - I'm a complete and total noob on this script thing and if someone who knows about this stuff could help me I'd TOTALLY appreciate it. I use MFP both at home and at work (and on the app on my phone). Will I need to install the script on both computers to see it both places? Will I mess things up if I only install it at home but continue to log at work (just knowing that my more accurate macros are at home) - I don't know how that would work with my firewall settings. Will I see the updated goals on my app?

@BarbieAS You need to install the script in any browser that you will use to adjust your goals, after that, you can use the MFP site for tracking, etc anywhere without the script.

I have the same problem, my macro split currently is not favored by the 5% increments that myfitnesspal uses. If only there were an option to input custom grams like you can with sugars, fiber, etc.

YOU ARE SENT FROM HEAVEN I SWEAR.

Okay, but really, that script is GENIUS. Thank you so much. I know this post is kinda old, but I'm SO glad I found it!

Tagging for when I actually get out my laptop to try and adjust this. Can't believe after all this time, the site still has yet to make this change.

The link takes you to a page, then when you have to click the 'my fitness pal enhancements' tab, nothing happens!

I used this a few months ago and it worked, now it doesn't.

Anyone else getting this to work now?

UPDATE:
Was doing it wrong! sorted!!

What did you get it to work now? It was working a week ago but not today.

Google brought me to this question! I was wondering why I couldn't adjust the goals in MFP to go specifically with IIFYM. Awesome job to the guy who created the script. It just worked for me :)

I was having the same problems with my macros in 5% increments - I'm going to try the script.

I tried the macro thing and it didn't work for me so I've made a note at the bottom of my diary with the amounts I need to meet.

Hi guys,

I made a video explaining how you can change the macronutrient range by grams instead of percentages. It's very easy to do. Heres the video:

Could you write a script that allows for a RANGE of grams/calories you should be eating every day? I find it silly for people to get into the mindset that they must eat a specific amount of food every day. What's even sillier is when they're congratulated for going under that specific amount, no matter how far under they are.

Gotta look at the big picture, not day-to-day.

@chivalryder Unfortunately that is not possible. MFP stores the goals as percentages, so they must be fixed values. The script works by storing more precise values (like 20.225% instead of 20%) instead of the 5% values that the default UI allows.

I second this, setting grams instead of percentages would be great!
