Hi all,

Firstly, love MFP and have used it since the start of the year, losing 10kg before deciding to switch up and start gaining muscle. This means I'm now aiming to gain 3kg on my current weight. The problems are:

1. MFP is so geared to weight *loss* that even when I change my goals to "gain .25kg a week", it still shows "Projected Weight Loss"
2. I have played with the ticker over and over but cannot get it to work in such a way as to show how much weight I have left to gain. Instead (as you can see) it shows me as being in the negative for weight loss, and will stay at "0kg to go" until I meet my goal. In other words, it won't show any progress at all.
3. I feel like when I go over my calorie limit, that's a good thing when gaining weight. Putting the numbers in red for eating too much when that's exactly what I'm trying to do is a bit annoying, though not totally awful.
4. I had all my goals set up as custom goals, and the only way for me to let MFP know that my goal was to gain weight was in Automatic Goals, so that it reset all of the manual goals I had set up. Very frustrating!
5. I feel there should be an option to update your news feed when you gain weight as well. It exists for when you lose weight (I've unticked that, since I don't want to lose weight right now!) but there doesn't exist an option for gaining weight. As most people use MFP to lose weight, perhaps it would be worth having that as an option but making it default unticked?

I'm sure there are other things which currently seem to rewards weight loss above weight gain. For me, it's because I want to gain muscle. However, imagine if someone were trying to calorie count in order to gain weight to get away from an eating disorder - I feel like MFP is so geared towards rewarding weight LOSS that it would be really hard to be able to switch on the mentality that gaining weight can be a good thing. Certainly it's hard for me to get used to gaining weight, and seeing MFP celebrate weight loss and not weight gain (even when you've specified it as your goal) can be very disheartening!

Any help making changes/options available for the other men and women trying to do this, I'm sure, would be very appreciated by all of us!

Many thanks,

Agreed, I had these same issues when I was bulking a few months ago.

Well said, this is a much needed feature. Please add it, MFP!

I agree that MFP needs to address this. It should be a very simple fix

Totally agree! Has anyone tried ways to trick the system to actually help you track how many calories you need in order to gain weight?
