QUOTE: Does anyone know anything about the colon cleanse and acai berry and if it really works?? In my opinion, not for dietary reasons. Colon cleanses don't do anything to help your long term health. Unless you have a gastrointestinal problem, your colon is usually pretty clean already, as are your intestines. It's essentially a scam. And if you do have medical issues, you should be following the advice of your doctor. There is one, and only one, true way to become healthy, that's eat right and exercise. Anything else is a quick fix that won't be sustainable in the long term.

Hello: I've been exercising and watching what I eat for about two months, but only started on here fpr a week. I already have lost 5 lbs before coming here, but heard it was a great site to help figure out calories intake and exercise. It is a great site for that. I read the newbie information and see where I am suppose to make sure I am reaching my calorie intake. For the most part I am not reaching my calorie intake, and this is on days I don't exercise. when I do put my hour exercise in, wow, I could eat a lot more, but I'm afraid too. Because now I'm not taking off anything, but did notice the inches going down. Does the time of the month affect your wait:?
Toady my calorie intake is 1,490 calories burned are 0 because I didn't exercise (long day at work 9 hrs.) calories consumed 1,326 calires remaining 164 I even went and ate a bowl of shredded wheat to boost up more calories.... I'm 45 yrs old, 145 lbs, 5' 6" would like to get down to 135lbs. Any more advice, I would greatly appreciate it, or if you do you think the lbs. will start to come off again?

Being a newbie is fun.
Get to meet all the people out there.
Tuba Girl Kate Just take time to stop, and smell the sweet out door air. Flowers are a thing of the past. And who wants to bend down to smell them anyways? Lol.

QUOTE: Banks you are like a superstar! Will you check this out? http://thoughtstothin.blogspot.com/ It is just a beginning but, I get you dude! LOL, superstar? dunno about that. I read the blog post though. Pretty cool, and it's the right direction I think, but I'll take that process a bit further. Here's my theory. People become fat because of ignorance. That's it, no other reason. (aside from medical illnesses of course) How many people do you know that start out as young teens and said "I think I'll grow up and be a fat tub of goo!" ? How many adults do you know who one day said "I don't like being thin anymore, I think I'll try out being fat!"? Right! So to be more specific, many different types of ignorance can play a factor, ignorance of body processes, ignorance of the health of your choices in food, ignorance of your mental health, ignorance of tolerances...etc. All kind of ignorance. I battle it every day on here. 75% of the posts on here deal with ignorance, to be more specific, the lessening of ignorance of a specific topic. The most prevalent topic? Ignorance of the general concept of food, calories, and how a human body stores, uses, and creates fuel. That's why I put out so many posts about calories. I've done the research, and while maybe I don't know EVERYTHING there is to know about the topic, I've got a pretty decent base of knowledge and can make informed decisions for myself based on fact and logical conclusions. I relate this to the blog, I almost never have guilt over food I eat (yes, even when it's a double cheeseburger with fries!) because I understand what this is doing, and what it takes to make sure this doesn't affect my body long term.

It is just a way to "bump" a posting with good information up to the recent post list, so that more people can see it and learn! That being said, I say, bump!
or, B-TH-GUMP! (Does anyone speak Gibberish, or whatever they called it in your high school??)

I just started with myfitness pal, I've been on a weight loss roller coaster. My biggest downfall is not making enough time for me. This time I have set aside everything including dishes. I wash them on my lunch hour. Trust me the dishes can wait. I found out if you put your treadmill on 12% and set the speed at 3.3 you burn 773 cal in one hour, if you get on the eliptical and set it for 40 min and resistance on 5 you burn 400 calories, and last but not least I got the charlean by beachbody video and have done the stomach excercises, that alone was worth the price of the video. Look on craigslist and you can find someone selling it for cheap. I have been doing this for five days and have lost about three pounds and I can feel the difference in my clothes (not bad for 5 days). It is slow going but I know this is going to pay off. My daughter in law has been doing this about 5 times a week faithfully and she has dropped 14 pounds in three weeks. The only thing she has changed in her diet is no fried items with an occasional cheat. Once I start losing the pounds I will start to do the rest of charlean and I will let you know how it works. THanks for reading, hope this helps.
