About Me:
I'm 5'6 and mom to 2 wonderful boys. I always have been a little heavy my whole life, but I didn't get really bad until I became pregnant with my first son. I was basically alone and depressed and ate, and ate, and ate. I gained a ton, but since I was younger I was able to lose it pretty quickly. When I became pregnant with my second son I wanted to prevent that weight gain and ate right and exercised. Unfortunately at 14 weeks I had a severe hemorrhage in my uterus and was put on bedrest for the remainder of my pregnancy. I gained about 50 pounds and was the heaviest I have ever been at 190. I stayed that way for nearly 1.5 years until I got tired of my excuses and made my 2011 New Years Resolution to lose that weight! I have had my ups and downs since then, but had a sort of re-dedication to my journey since I started logging back into MFP for the second time. I am tired of wishing and dreaming about the way I want to look... I am doing something about it!
I am a certified Personal Trainer through ACE. My plans are to become a Health Coach, where I not only do personal training, but am additionally certified in nutrition and group training. I also have big plans taking shape in my mind for my own fitness dvds with a unique twist. :)
I have never stepped foot into a gym, up until 11-26-12. All progress before this date has been home based. I was absolutely terrified of going, but my progress stalled for 5 months. I knew, I know, it is time to conquer my fears, my anxiety, to leap out of my comfort zone and get shit done! I am currently doing the program "New Rules of Lifting for Women". I am vlogging this program on my YouTube Channel! I was (and still am) a workout video junkie! I have done The Hollywood Trainer Kickboxing, Tae Bo, Insanity, Turbo Jam, Turbo Fire, ChaLean Extreme, Jillian Michael's Ripped in 30 and Killer Buns and Thighs, various Biggest Loser workouts, TapOut XT, Les Mills Combat and GSP RushFit.
I started my journey at 190 lbs, a dress size 14 and 36% body fat. As of 6/01/13 I am 140.4 lbs, 16.5% body fat (according to electric calipers ) and a size 3-7 in shorts/jeans (depending on the brand), average shirt size is a small and a dress size 2-4. I never in a million years thought I would be in the shape I am now. I am so happy I decided to change and not give up!!
I have 3 dogs, a cat and 3 snakes. I LOVE SUPERNATURAL!!!!!!!!!! I'm married to an amazing man who has literally stayed by my side through thick and thin.
I am a Christian woman and I do love God. I do my best not to judge anyone...I believe God loves you for who you are, no matter what skin color, sexual preference or other religious belief you may be. I will not ever deny friendship because you believe different, I only ask that you respect my beliefs as I respect yours! I will not push my beliefs on you, but if you ever have any questions please ask me! :)
I have been getting a lot of questions about what I do. And I will tell you! I have been doing nothing special lol. For the majority of my weight loss I have NETTED at 1200, eating back all or most of my workout calories. However, come to find out my HRM I was using was overestimating my calories burned by double! So really, even though I *thought* I was netting 1200, I was actually netting around 1500-1600 AND LOSING! This realization has caused me to firmly believe you need fuel if you want your body to be a fire! I recently changed my calorie goal to 1800 calories. I make healthier food choices, like whole grains instead of white, fresh fruit instead of juice. I drink mainly water and diet pop/crystal light- I would rather eat my cals than drink them! I try to get as much protein as possible. I think cardio combined with strength training is the best way to get results. Women, YOU WILL NOT GET BULKY BY LIFTING. Whenever I do a workout with weights, I go as heavy as I can! IT WORKS. There are supplements I take everyday (well, when I remember lol). I take a pre-workout powder before each workout. Brand varies but the purpose is always energy, focus and strength. Gets me pumped! And doesn't last longer than an hour or 2 so it doesn't effect my heart like a thermogenic would. I also take a woman's multivitamin and a B-complex when I am feelin low-energy. I also recently started taking an omega-3 supplement.
My main goal is to be at 16-17% body fat, which would ideally put me at 130, but anywhere between 130-135 I'd be cool with :).
I try to be real with people, sometimes resulting in a little tough love. I won't be your crutch! It's time to get real with ourselves!!!
If you like me and like what I have to say, I also have a YouTube Channel, Fitness Facebook page and Instagram which I use regularly! The quote header has all the links :)
Why I want to get in shape
So I can be one of those Personal Trainers that people look at and say "She OBVIOUSLY knows how to get things done!"
Because I want to be healthy and be around as long as possible for my children.
Because I want to feel confident naked!
To have lean legs w/ clear definition in my calves and thighs.
To strengthen my lower abs to help tighten up my mommy pooch.
To have a shapely behind.
TO BE STRONG.
TO BE CONFIDENT.

Cut first or build muscle first?
