About Me

I am an Exercise, Sport and Health Education/Commercial and Corporate Fitness major in my Senior year, and plan on graduate school for muscle physiology, bioenergetics, or endocrinology. I have been lifting hard and eating clean for over a year; prior to 2007 I lifted, but wasn't eating clean.

Almost all of my information comes from the following texts, as well as documents created by my ex phys teacher, who is probably one of the coolest people ever.

Bachle, T., & Earle, R. (2000). National Strength and Conditioning Association: Essentials of Strength Training and Conditioning. 2nd ed. Champaign, IL.

Why I Want To Get In Shape

I ended up reaching 132 lbs, but still wasn't as lean as I wanted to be. I planned on dropping another 10, but instead I put on about 7 over the summer. I lived in a tent, had no time to work out, and despite my active job I was unable to eat a balanced diet (trail food isn't good for 2 months!) and gained rapidly. I suspect the stress had a lot to do with it, along with the fact that I just wanted eat REAL food when I came home once a week. I got up to 144 before I came back to MFP, and lost 4 lbs on my own just by stopping with the junk food. Now I'm down to about 136 and dropping steadily.

I am currently training for a 5k Turkey Trot on November 15th here in Radford, VA and the Yuengling Shamrock Half-Marathon on March 21/22 in Virginia Beach. I am aiming to finish the 5k in under 30 minutes. I would like to finish the HM in 2:45 or less. I am still cutting calories so I can be lighter to improve my times.

My Inspirations

  • My 'new' self
  • Sharing the experience with my wonderful bf {dragnwlf261)
  • Getting lighter so I can run faster
