It took me 40 years to get so over weight and lazy. It is the way America is headed. At a weight of 275 lbs, it was time to change. I started exercising in September of 2010. As of today, July 28, 2011, I lost 70 lbs. Mostly from good hard workouts on my elliptical and in the last month, on my new Concept 2 rower. Along with calisthenics.
I was eating a little more heathy, but I want to do better, so I am trying this program. WoW! what a eye opener. If you actually log everything you put into your mouth, its amazing how quick it adds up. Hopefully,I will be able to keep up the good nutrition. I'm sure it will be easy to slip.
I have a wonderfull wife who is exercising also. That's good motivation too. I also have 2 sons, 13 yr old and 15 yrs old. Both are very active in sports.
I love archery, hunting and fishing.
I've logged over 500 days on MFP now, I lost over 100 lbs. I have been hovering around 175lbs for about a year now. In early 2012, I started getting out doors more. I took up running and biking. It's a lot more fun working out out side over working out in my basement. I am in the best shap of my life. In September I competed in a tough mudder event. I finished in the top 5% of all Wisconsin finishers. That was a big accomplishment. The best feeling in the world is when you see someone you haven't seen in a long time and they don't recognize you, and when they do, the accolades are inspiring!
Why I want to get in shape
- Wanting to live longer than 55-60 years old
- Seeing other people do it
- Embarrassment of being obese
- Want to be able to keep up to my boys
