About Me
I spent 8 years active duty in the Air Force, the last 2-3 years being the most fit I've ever been. (Group PT plus almost daily training in mixed martial arts). However, when I went civilian 3 years ago, I fell off my PT program, and was unable to continue with the martial arts. The result was that I put on a bit of weight, as well as lost a bit of muscle mass.
Why I Want To Get In Shape
I miss the level of strength and fitness I used to be at a few years ago, and want to get back to that. And yes, I also miss the vain side - of actually looking really good, whether it was in PT gear, a bikini, a nice dress, or just jeans and a t-shirt. :-)
It's very easy for my family to put on weight, and I would prefer to prevent myself from doing that, rather than have to deal with the health consequences and the greater struggle it would be to lose weight and get fit later. I'm about 15 pounds from my target goal. If I work hard for the next several months, I can get there, and then all I'd need to do is maintain.
