I was the chunky kid, then the obese adult. At my heaviest I was almost 110kg's (240lb).
I did what every uninformed fat person does. I went extreme, yo-yo dieted, did heaps of cardio, became impatient too quickly. Rinse and repeat.
So I decided to get me some real smarts. I read a lot, talked to some people smarter than myself and got stuck into it.
I did lose some weight before joining MFP, and another 15kgs since being here.
Full disclosure, I'm still fatter than I want to be, and while I understand the theory behind nutrition, training and fat loss in general, at times I still struggle to put it all together for sustained periods.
I am a work in progress, and I have come to terms with the fact that I will fail from time to time and can still reach my goals.
Knowledge and Consistency are the keys to success. Don't be perfect, just be good over a long period.
Why I want to get in shape
I do this first and foremost for me. I want to feel good about myself physically for the first time in my life. This is a selfish goal and I'm completely ok with that.
The change in my attitude did seem to coincide with the birth of my kids though, and I don't think this was a coincidence. I realised it is my job as a parent to set the best example I can, and physical health should never be taken for granted. Ever!
