About Me
I'm 33 and have always been tall and "sturdy" but not overweight---until three years ago. With the help of MFP I lost about 20 lbs last spring and 7 more since I began substitute teaching in January (the kids are sucking the life out of me!).
Why I Want To Get In Shape
I want to get back to doing marathons (I've done four, but you'd never know it from looking at me now) and triathlons (I've done two). I know that the more weight I lose, the more enjoyable these events will be. Also, every other member of my immediate family is obese and I see them all struggling with the health problems associated with that - diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and artery blockage (dad), bad knees (mom), acid reflux, barely getting up the stairs - you name it! This will NOT be my future.
My Inspirations
- A closet full of clothes that fit me again but won't if I slack off.
- Marathons and triathlons are SO much easier for smaller people.
- My blood pressure is creeping up into the "Stage 1 Hypertension" category - ugh!
