About Me
I'm a 35 year-old single mom from the frozen tundra (a.k.a. Minnesota). I've battled the bulge (and lost for the most part) my entire life. The only time I came close to being "thin" was in junior high and high school because I was so active.
I gave birth to my son nearly 13 years ago. Pre-pregnancy I weighed 175-180 pounds and wore a size 12. I got up to 245 pounds while I was pregnant and only lost 10-15 pounds of that after I gave birth. In 2000 I started doing Weight Watchers and got down to 185. I felt fantastic and was SO proud of myself... so much so that I took a cruise to the Bahamas and COMPLETELY fell off the WWW (Weight Watcher Wagon) and ballooned back up to 234 pounds. I've tried going back on the program a few times since then, but can never seem to catch the same momentum I had back then.
My mom became very ill last fall which was a bit of a kick in the pants for me. At that point I decided to not put so much focus on losing pounds as much as just being healthy. I was never the type to enjoy exercise, but I think now it's because I had misconceptions about how horrible it would be! LOL
Since September I have lost 35 pounds. (I had lost 42, but started losing the motivation right along with it.) Clearly I needed to do something to shake things up, so I ordered the Slim in 6 program by Beach Body. Just started it yesterday so not sure what kind of results I will get, but I'm optimistic!
Why I Want To Get In Shape
I really want to be healthy. I want to be around on this earth for my son as long as humanly possible! And if I can look great at the same time, BONUS!
My Inspirations
- My main man... my son. :o)
- Witnessing the successes of others.
- Comments like: "You look great... have you lost weight?"
- If/when I get married I want to wear the dress of my dreams & look FAB in it!
