About Me
Colorado native. Very athletic growing up and never had weight problems. Went to college on the Texas coast and discovered my love of beer... Then lived in the African bush for 3 years eating mostly carbs... So I have slowly gained 40 lbs over the last 10 years and I finally decided to do something about it when I found out my cholesterol had gone up.
Since using MFP I have seen the following results:
Weight 182.5 lbs down to 140 lbs (42.5 lbs lost!)
Hips 43.5" down to 37.5" (6" lost!)
Thighs 24.5" down to 22" (2.5" lost!)
Belly 35.5" down to 29.5" (6" lost!)
Arms 12.5" down to 11.0" (1.5" lost!)
*And I've gone from a size 14 to a size 8...!
9/21/08 - I have been maintaining for over a month now and gained several pounds back. I could blame it on visitors, but I should know better. I have become lax and need to focus. Time to start logging again and putting more emphasis on hard exercise.
10/1/08 - I did a fitness evaluation at the hospital that changed my goals a bit. Found out I have around 14% body fat which is encouraging. My goal of losing another 5 lbs might not be healthy, or easy, so I am focusing on toning up. We'll see how it goes... Everything else was good as well (strength, cardio, blood pressure, heart rate).
1/12/09 - I have been doing more strength training since last fall. My weight went up a few pounds because of increased muscle which is ok with me. My measurements have not changed in many months so I think I am where I should be. I can live with an in-shape body that varies between 140 and 145 no matter what I eat (within reason).
6/10/09 - Things are still going well. Was married in April and I had A LOT of compliments on how good I looked! That was worth a million dollars! Now I am back to getting in great hiking shape for the summer and working on toning up even more. It is still a day by day process, but I have learned how to enjoy parties, etc within reason and not let things get out of control again.
11/1/09 - My two year anniversary of MFP!! Still going strong and maintaining weight and measurements. Probably lost some muscle this summer because of outdoors activities and not inside weight training. That is a goal for this winter. AND I have decided to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in Kenya next fall as a reward for all my hard work over the last few years!!
Thanks MyFitnessPal!!
Why I Want To Get In Shape
I live in one of the most beautiful places in the world for outdoor activities and I don't want to be limited by what I can do. I was tired of keeping my worries about my weight to myself. Now that I have begun this journey I feel better about myself than I ever have!
My Inspirations
- For my overall health
- For my supportive and patient husband
- Trying to set a good example for those around me
- To look better and feel better about myself
