I am...
Home schooling mother of 5 children (22-9).
Happily married. Love my family!
Very busy!
Active in church and service.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing but right now I am a stay at home mom.
My weight loss story sort of goes like this...In December of 1999 I had a serious accident and my leg (which had been run over by a van) was still giving me a lot of pain. (adhesions) Pre-accident (1999) weight was about 135 having recently had a baby but by April of 2005 I weighed 183! More than I ever weighed even pregnant. Every diet I tried left me weighing more than I did when I started.
It was at this time that I realized that I needed to change. So...since I was also experiencing some pre-diabetic symptoms my first step was to eliminate processed sugars and try to eat real food. It seemed like a good plan since I couldn't really exercise . I have been basically sugar free for 4 years.
I have very slowly lost weight by just doing this. It has been an experience of extreme patience and determination. I got down to about 155-160 but then started gaining again.
Finally, after enough PT and simply walking. I was feeling stronger and for the first time ever committed myself to a more serious exercise routine and simultaneously discovered MFP.
It has been slow and hard but I am doing it.
Why I Want To Get In Shape
I feel my body aging and I want to be healthy so that I can continue to be vibrant and active in serving God and my family.
My Inspirations
- I am tired of feeling tired.
- I need a positive way of de-stressing.
- I just can't do anything crazy again! (Slim Fast, Cabbage Soup, etc)
- I want to eat to live instead of living to eat!
