On June 13, 2011 I had a vertical sleeve gastrectomy which removed 75% my stomach. After losing 75 lbs, I plateaued for months, Nov 2011-Jan 2012. Got a new phone, this great app and I’m losing again.
In case you're wondering why my loss is slower than most, it's because I have certain objectives. I've done a lot of weight lifting throughout my life so I keep my protein over 100 gram/day to retain as much of the muscle I can. I also include a lot of healthy fats to help my skin. I can’t have reconstructive surgery because I promised my husband no more voluntary surgery; he was an emotional wreck for my sleeve.
What I’m doing is working for me. I’m not following my nutritionist’s recommendations, but she can’t argue with the lean muscle I’ve retained, the shape my skin is in and that I never had the hair loss many people report.
Like most things in my life, I'm doing it my way.
Why I Want To Get In Shape
I want to run...as in be a runner. I'm doing the Runner's World, "Run Your Butt Off" program for beginner runners.
- I'm inspired to lose weight by all the ugly big girl clothes!!
- Cory Everson...If I could look like her in retirement, I'd be so happy.
- Keeping up with my husband.
