FEED YOUR BODY, NOT YOUR TONGUE!!!

In weight loss terms a calorie is a calorie is a calorie. Sure, it is possible to lose weight eating badly but what would be the point. You might look thin on the outside but you'd still be very unhealthy on the inside and probably not feel very good either.

In terms of health, it really does matter what you eat - you should be interested in nourishing your body and that will lead you to eat a lot of fruits, vegetables and lean meat. Eating this way you'll be extremely unlikely to gain weight and extremely likely to lose weight.

If we start feeding our bodies and NOT our tongues then we will be on a much better track to good health and a correct weight. Think for a minute what foods you wouldn’t bother to eat if you couldn’t taste anything – would you bother eating that sugary cream bun with very little in the way of nutrients in it? I think not. Without the fatty, salty taste what would be the point of eating fries? Without that wonderous taste of cocoa mixed with sugar and fat would you bother eating chocolate? I think not. I believe that if we lost our sense of taste we would become extremely mindful/sensible about what we are putting in our bodies, don’t you agree?

Now think about that last sentence for a second. What that ultimately means is that we let our tongues RULE our brains in our food choices. WHY? Why do we do that? Surely we are smarter than a little tongue with tiny tastebuds all over it? SURELY!!

The vast majority of the human race needs to reign in their tongue and let their brain have more of a say in the decision making process of what goes into their mouths and bodies. Only then will be the smartest animal alive.

The sense of taste was used for survival: sweet = good (fruits & berries for high energy); bitter = poision; salty = aid in hydration. Food companies took advantage of this knowledge to make money on products that appeal to our caveman senses. But taste does bring pleasure and I for one would be sad to give that up and be reduced to receiving nutrition via a feeding tube or some bland glop (people chow?) that contained my MDR for vitamins and minerals. Like every other one of our senses that can be misused and overstimulated, it's a matter of using the proper amount of discipline and common sense so we can enjoy life to its fullest.

Thought provoking, extremely well written and informative ideas that made me go ....hmmmmm. This blog made enough of an impact on me that from now on....My brain will say to my tongue...."I'm bigger than you!!! So *I* get the final say here!" Thank you for sending the brain into the right corner....the tongue into the left....and presenting your thoughts on why the tongue should go down for the count! :D

My thoughts too. Now if only I can forget about the "other" junk. For the most part, I eat "clean" but I have been having issues with binging lately (and not on healthy choices). It is making me crazy!!!!
