The 4-Hour Body and Protein Shakes

On the recommendation of a friend who lost a great deal of weight, I bought the book, The 4-Hour Body by Tim Ferriss.  I'm now 5 months into following the recommended eating program and have lost some weight.  The first couple of months were very exciting but for the past 8 or so weeks, I've hit a plateau.  It's been frustrating, so I went back to the book and see what tips might be located within.  In the book, I noticed that Tim recommends eating at least 30g of protein wihtin 30 minutes of waking.  For a person like myself who doesn't eat breakfast (I prefer to drink my coffee and wait 3-4 hours before eating), this is difficult.  The friend who initially got my interested in this book said I should change my lifestyle and make a point of eating breakfast.  That might sound easy enough, but honestly, I just don't want to eat.  In the book, Tim talks about drinking protein shakes to get the 30g upon waking.  Off I went to my local Walgreen's and bought EAS Chocolate Fudge Protein Shakes. 

 I was in no way prepared for the taste.  How awful!  Day 1 I managed to choke down one swallow and then dumped the rest out.  I went to work and was talking to a co-worker who laughed and then said, if you really want to you can drink them.  It's a mind set.  Day 2 I kept that co-worker's advice in mind and was able to choke down a little over 8 ounces or half of the protein shake and ate half a cup of cottage cheese for a total of 34g of protein.  Today was Day 5 and I'm still choking down half a shake and half a cup of cottage cheese.  Each day I have my co-worker's words in my mind.

 You can do it if you put your mind to it.
