1st day 5/3/13

I was once told if you have weight to lose do it before you're 40, because after that it gets harder...why the hell didnt I listen??? It really is harder.

10 years ago I was told I had cancer, and was given 10 weeks to live, I was diagnosed with T cell non hodgkins lymphoma stage 4b, to cut a long story short a week after I was diagnosed I went on a clinical trial, had lots of high dose chemo and a stem cell transplant..obviously it worked coz here I am 10 years later yey me ;) Anyway, I went through an early menopause and so the weight thing started, suddenly I became a yoyo dieter and now Ive had enough, so I searched the internet and found MyFitnessPal, Ive been overwhelmed with friend requests and support on my first day, it really has given me a boost to go for it...so thankyou, i look forward to many online friendships from all over the world :)

You're an inspiration! Yep, this over 40 weight loss thing is tough. Glad you found MFP. Isn't it great?! I've been here since January & the support & tracking has been the best thing for me.
Good luck!

I am so happy you are here to tell us about your journey and thank you for sharing your story. Well I am here to tell you that is hard but not impossible to lose weight at 40. I hit 50 in December and my goal for when I hit 50 was to be fit and fabulous at fifty. I have 9 months to finish the fitness but already am fabulous LOL. I work out with kids half my age and I can keep up with them. I am running in my first 5k Saturday and super excited. I have lost 83 pounds so far and have 40 or so left to lose. Now that last 40 is harder to come off but it will come off. I won't lose the battle but I will lose the weight :) Good luck to you honey.

Wow Veebeth Im so impressed with your story! And Susiemoo69 Its great you are doing this for youselfwill give you a great goal to worktowards and to focus. Sometimeswhen one has won big battles the little onesseem empty and pointless. But one needs these to keep going always!

I am so elated that you fought the battle and you beat it. And yes it may be a little harder after age 40, but it can be done and I'm living it right now. I'm 58 and have lost 127 pounds in 16 1/2 months. I have 18 pounds to go to my goal weight. My message has always been that no matter your age or weight, you CAN do this.

I have a sister-in-law that is currently on chemo for Stage 3 lymphoma. I pray that her battle is as successful as yours!
