The Poop Scoop :(

Today is February 21, 2013....Well I had a first today, I finally saw 256 on the scale this morning...after playing with 257 and 258 and every ounce in between since last week...

I think I figured out what the problem was, and yes you guessed it, POOP....I know, not a great topic, but I felt like talking about it tonight, hmmm... does that make me a "potty mouth"?

So here's the Poop Scoop.....which from this word forward I will gently refer to  as #2. :)

So it all started last Thursday, something just didn't feel right, literally. I could not understand why the "treat meal" didn't work, I mean it had all the times before, but not this time. Up and down, up and down....On Sunday I read something somewhere about fiber, and it sort of laid there in my head for a day. That night when I closed out my diary, I was looking at my numbers at the bottom, and it was like "news flash", you aren't monitoring fiber...So for the heck of it I changed my fat to fiber so I could go back a couple weeks in my diary, and see how my it was looking, and sure enough, for about 2 weeks I was low, and I knew why immediately. For the first month of the plan I had been eating a lot of lima beans, fruit with the skin on, and something called millet and flax chips...I started peeling my apples<<< not sure why, I was getting sick of the beans, and ran out of the chips. I had seen enough.

Once I had that figured out, second news flash....I had not gone #2 in  days....

I started looking at my favorite Website, vita-cost, to see what I could use for a quick fix. What I like about their site is that you can search by not only brand, customer rating, price,  etc.... but also by ailment.....NO I did not type in Poop>>>oooops, I mean #2, I went for the more, "I were a college student" term, "Constipation". I found India Organics Psyllium Husk. It was the highest rated of all the brands and products for insoluable fiber that came up, but I wasn't about to go a week waiting for it to come in the mail. So off  to my local Wholefoods it was.

Tuesday a teaspoon full went into my lunch time cottage cheese and fruit. MAN did that stuff work fast! By dinner time I was number 2'in all over the place, well not ALL OVER...ewww...but enough said.

I continued using it, and after Tuesday and yesterday,  two full days of running to the potty, when I laid down last night, I just felt different, my tummy felt flatter, not bloated, what can I say? I felt thinner. So this morning when I hopped on the scale and had finally boken through the 257 mark.

It was like BINGO! :)

So for now I have left the fiber on my food diary in place of fat, which I am not to concerned with<<<HA That's just plain funny!...although I do wish MFP would give us more than 5 slots for monitoring......I mean jeeze, till you get in the top three, carbs, fat, and protein, it doesn't leave much room for things like sugar, fiber, cholesterol, iron for people who are anemic<<<Like me...etc....

OK. well that's the Poop Scoop :)

I will work on a more pleasant topic for my next blog! But let's face it..

POOP HAPPENS!

Truer words were never spoken! I have had this difficulty myself. But, I must admit that I enjoyed the "sudden" weight loss a little...err...movement... could create.

(There are actually many YouTube video on how to poop. If talking about it is hard imagine the courage THAT took! LOL)

LOL!only a fellow sufferer can feel your joy. i too use that time and again, in India(yes i'm Indian) it is a commonly used non habit forming bulk laxative.best used after dinner and nearer to bedtime, remember to take at least 600ml of plain water for 2 tbsp of husk, otherwise it can cause abdominal discomfort...

Very gracefully done and informative. Used Psyllium Husk years ago, and then forgot about it. Thanks for your humor and honesty. Congrats on one of many milestones!

Just bought some last week! And I actually bought it because it is an ingredient in a recipe (which recipe slips my mind right now - oh, that's great...) but now I have another use for it!! I, too, wish MFP allowed more slots to track. I change mine all the time trying to monitor fiber, sugar, salt, cholesterol, et al. I'm currently net carbbing but that doesn't help me figure out if I'm getting enough fiber every day. I think I may replace sugar as I don't seem to have a problem with that right now (and that's a huge surprise to me!) Thanks for your post - a very informative start to my day!

LOL! I really enjoyed reading this topic because I had the same problem a few weeks ago. I thought I was eating too much cheese, but I just wasn't eating enough fiber and started going again! :) My stomach always felt so crappy. I now try to eat at least Fiber One cereal or a Fiber One Protein Bar a day. When I first read the title I thought it would be able some cats hahaah.

LOL - you crack me up! This is a problem I have not had since I had my gallbladder out 2 years ago. I was going #2 everytime I ate a substantial meal. Before MFP - when I was averaging 2500 calories a day - well, lets just say it wasn't pleasant. I have been relieved to find (during this diet) that eating smaller meals and periodic snacks has cut down on my trips to the bathroom. I will take an extra pound over a sore bottom any day:)
