New Tools - BMI and BMR Calculators

Some of you may have noticed the new "Tools" tab on MyFitnessPal.  The tools section will eventually contain a variety of utilities designed to help you in your weight loss goals. For starters, I've added a BMI calculator which can help you determine your body mass index and consequently, a target healthy weight range to shoot for.  I've also created a BMR calculator so you can see just how many calories your body burns just to stay alive.

If you have any feedback on the current tools, or any other tool requests or ideas, be sure to leave them in the comments below.

Thanks, and hope you're enjoying the site!

Hi Mike,

Let me start by expressing my thanks for your wonderful site. It's exactly what I needed as an aid on my journey to losing weight. Your graph for charting your weight loss is and ideal tool and provides much motivation when I can see the line going down.

I am also charting my blood pressure every day and watching that improve immensely as the weight drops. My husband charts his blood sugar as well. Currently we are using an Excel spreadsheet, but it would be nice to have this included as a tool on MFP, for those who do not have a spreadsheet application.

Thanks for everything Mike. You are doing a wonderful job for all of us.

How do you determine the carb/fat/protein portions for your users. I am at 15% protein which I think is too low.
