And the journey continues.... 343.4
Alright..... this was the morning I was looking forward to... the weigh in!
The Weight Watchers weigh-in for me is every Friday. Last week I had lost 4 pounds. That was just before I joined MyFitnessPal. So, after a whole week of doing the MFP thing, I was eager to find out what level of success I would have by watching calories, sodium, sugar, carbs, protein and fat... instead of points plus.
I was looking forward to a 2.5 pound loss according to my calculations for the week. But to lose more than double that was exciting! My Weight Watcher leader asked me what I did different. I said.... "I quit Weight Watchers and joined MyFitnessPal online. Plus I started watching caloric intake along with all the other elements like fat, carbs, sugars, sodium."
My leader made her case about Points Plus and Free Fit Foods and almost every other characteristic of the Weight Watchers program that would possibly appeal to me.
"You don't understand", I continued, "MyFitnessPal friends are with me on the journey 24/7, we inspire and motivate one another... daily! This beats meeting for one hour each week. MyFitnessPal has accountability with all my friends there watching what I am doing, eating, feeling... everything. They are on the same journey that I am on and that matters at midnight when I am tempted to raid the fridge for a glass of milk or something that I should be able to let go of. In fact, MyFitnessPal is a website I visit more often than Facebook!"
My leader looked down... then looked at me. She said, "Well, I have till April 25th to change your mind." and then she chuckled.
So, I am happy to testify that in the week that I have been active here, I have lost 5.6 pounds and now stand at 343.4 in my quest for 200. It'll be a long journey, I know. But I am prepared, with the right tools, toward success.
Weight Watchers?
I'm going to miss that place. Then again, maybe not.

Syntho, Iron sharpens iron. So your successes also motivate me!
BTW I'm on here a lot more than facebook too. I use to look at it all the time and now maybe once or twice a day :) Way I figure it is this is helping me lose weight and it is only giving me updates on local gossip. Yep, I prefer this.
Yes scadgirl.... It's FREE!!!!
good job man! bravo!
evelyn, thank you, but you are going to be just that and more to others!
Donna, I agree, totally... it's not just the counting of calories, but the friends who are on this journey!
meredith, can't express FREE enough, but it will also take effort.... effort and the journey is a shared one!
Bless you all for commenting on this blog entry, but I have a handful more before today. Feel free to read those and comment as well.
I just learned that this blog entry was #3 on MFP blogs today.... this is humbling since I am still a rookie at this.
But I am here instead this time. And everything you say is true. But I'd still recommend WW for someone who's new to embarking upon healthy eating and clueless how to get started.
I did WW for a while with my sister, she lost weight and I gained.
All I can figure is that it was because I was eating all of their "boxed" foods that they were selling.
I just started my MFP journey and am looking forward to it.
After logging in my foods for the day I was shocked that I ate almost 3xs the amount of sodium that I should for the day.
Sodium is on my hit list now........
