Marathon Training: Week 14!
Happy April everyone! Well it is officially the month of the marathon!! I’m totally eeking out, but in a good way! I actually kind of want these next few weeks to fly by and have the end of the month be here already. 26 days and counting!
Tuesday- 5.7 miles (58:37). I was running a little late on time so I had to run all the way back to my house instead of the normal cool down.
Wednesday- 5.3 miles(53:37) Virtual run with Lisa. All I have to say is I am sooo glad this was just a virtual run. This was the most embarrassing TMI run I have ever had in my life. I don’t need to blog about it because I NOT forget it, HA!
Thursday- Biceps/back/elliptical 65 mins.
Friday- 12 miles (2:20). This run had me finishing March with 152 MILES!! Wow, not sure I will ever beat that monthly mileage again. 377.4 miles for the year so far!
The 12 was a partial trail run with Bethany at Kennesaw Mountain. This was my first time running at KM but it was a great change from our usual road runs. The trail was definitely hilly but I love the scenery plus you can’t beat the shade. This was a cutback run but around ¾ of the way through this run B and I both started to feel it. We realized that our legs really weren’t recovered from the 19 miles the week before like we thought they were. Before this run we were contemplating changing our marathon training plan from a 3 week taper to a 2 week taper so we could run our 20 mile run together. If we keep it as is, with the 3 week taper, we would have to run it solo because our work schedules do not match up. So after realizing how tired our legs still were we decided that we were going to keep to the schedule and that means 20 miles will be solo runs for both of us. Not ideal, but I’m ready for the challenge.
Right after this run we crossed over and had our first MWF meeting with Holly! I had such a good time talking with her and meeting her son, it was a great lunch. We were laughing the whole time. October can’t be here soon enough. I look forward to many more gatherings! =)
Saturday- leg weights/elliptical 35 mins
Sunday- 8 miles (1:41) with Autum. Autum is training for her first half marathon in June so I try to meet up with her when I can for her long runs. This one worked out perfectly because I also had to do 8. We decided we would take it nice and slow, I enjoy taking it easy, and my legs definitely thank me afterwards.
So this week coming up is the week I will be running the 20 miles all by my lonesome. The plan is to run it this Friday, is it crazy that I’m really excited about the amount of food I will be able to eat after? I’m thinking about rewarding with combo’s or a blizzard…maybe both. Yeah, I knew there was a reason I signed up for MFP, HA. My true colors are coming out now, hehe.
Hope everyone has a great week!
