Recipe: Low Carb Jamba Juice

So my boyfriend is a Jamba addict, and since I felt left out when he would indulge in his vice (of 81 grams of sugar)... I decided to try my hand at a homemade low carb version.

Tasty & satisfying!

 

In my magic bullet:

1 cup of small cube ice

1 cup crystal light sugar free lemonade (premade in the fridge) 

2 tbsp heavy cream (or whipping cream)

2 packets splenda

1/8 cup frozen blueberries 

2-3 whole frozen strawberries  

PULSE until ice is blended.

ENJOY! 

NOTE: the frozen fruit is not frozen in syrup/sugar, it is fresh fruit that I tossed in the freezer.  (bought on sale for future use)

One variation I did was add 1 tbsp baking cocoa... & it was gooooood. 

 

The total net carb count was aprox 6.

NSV the pants...

Today I am wearing a pair of jeans that I had to purchase last fall because I had gained so much weight during my depression.

For most people these are lower cut rise, and a shade longer than cropped jeans... but because I am so short, the rise is just about right and the length was right at my ankle.

Well, they don't fit like they did when I first bought them. 

I have darted the waist in 2 places (removing 2 inches)  and still juuuust barely stay on with out a belt.   I find myself pulling them up all the time, and 2 months ago these jeans were snug.  Really snug.

I can actually pull these jeans down over my hips with out unbuttoning them.  I can grab the extra space that my thighs used to fill.  And because my butt is smaller, they now hang down to the bottom of my heel

 Yeah, I am pretty happy with my loose jeans.   This is a great NSV that I proudly wear like a trophy.

Recipe: Taco Seasoning packet

Ok, I peeked at the ingredients for Taco Seasoning and was not happy...

Wheat, Flour, Salt, Dried Garlic, Maltodextrin, Chili Peppers, Spice, Dried Onions, Monosodium Glutamate, Paprika, Sugar, Contains less than 2% of Silicon Dioxide As An Anticaking Agent, Soybean Oil, Malic Acid

Soooo I did a little digging online for home made recipes... and came up with my own version.

:)

 

For one pound of hamburger:

 

2 tsp paprika

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp chili powder

1 tsp cumin

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp oregano (mexican, if you have it)

1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (to taste)

lime juice (I use a teeny key lime, maybe 1 oz = 8 cals, 3 carb, 1 mg sodium)

dash of sea salt  (optional, roughly 1/2 tsp = 500 mg sodium)

 

for one 3 oz serving of browned hamburger, add the following for your Taco Seasoning

2 cals

<1 carb

<1 to 125 mg sodium (depending if you add salt or just use lime juice)
