About Me:

Hello! I'm Jessica, and I'm here to share my journey to a healthy weight, and healthy life.

Just a note, I'm a pretty tall lady, at 5'9! :)
Recently, in the past years, I've gained a ton of weight, due to birth control (Depo-Provera) and overeating in general.
I reached my height/start weight at 310 pounds in June 2012. It was then that it hit me just how much weight I gained since 2008 being then at 190lbs.

Since June 2012, I've tried diet after diet after diet, magic pills, cleanses, juices, working out, etc. I've gone up and down and up and down in weight, until finally I was introduced to the Keto diet in November of 2012 by my amazing, kind, supportive, handsome, amazing, caring, kick-ass boyfriend (who found it through reddit, and who's on keto too).

Keto, which is a low carb, high fat diet plan, works for us, not for everyone, but definitely for us. The reason the other plans failed me, personally, is because I was just sooooo HUNGRY allllll the time, I would binge eat at the end of the day after my "allotted calories" or anytime I was hungry, because I didn't feel satisfied with my food choices.

With keto, I feel satisfied hunger-wise, full of energy, healthier, thriving, and happier.
The ability to eat bacon, hot wings, nuts, salmon, veggies, cream cheese, macadamia nuts, almond/coconut flour etc. started to outweigh the want for my previous unhealthier options, which were choices like McDonald's for breakfast, Wendy's for lunch, and Dominos/Pizza Hurt for Dinner.
I've seen countless people have amazing success with keto, hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of pounds, lost. I hope to make a mark on the low carb world and be an amazing success story!

My original goal was to reach 190lbs again by the end of December 2013 in the beginning of the year. (at a rate of a 10 pound loss a month, re-starting on January 1st)

But after re-assessing my goals, and realizing that may have been too aggresive of a goal, I realized that this is a slow and steady process, I'm taking it day-by-day, month-by-month, year-by-year, with weigh-ins and measurements at least monthly.

I had to be honest with myself and realize I didn't gain this weight in one year, so I probably won't lose it within that timeframe either. And also, that no one is perfect in sticking to their diet plan 100% of the time. So regardless if it takes 2, 3, 4 or 10 years, I'm here to stay, eating delicious low carb food most of the time, and working my butt off to achieve my goals.

My ultimate goal weight is anywhere from 155-175lbs, I'll see how I feel at 170, and go from there.
But who am I kidding? It would be amazing to get back under 200 lbs! ;)

Started at 310lbs- from there...
285lbs {achieved} - New Outfit
265lbs- Knotts Berry Farm Trip
240lbs- Santa Barbara Weekend Getaway Trip
220lbs- Six Flags Day Trip
180-190lbs- Sky Diving!

Why I want to get in shape

I have a very long list of why I want to be healthier/lose weight. I'll list some of mine.
-So I can fit into a size 9 jean again. (No more double digits or Plus size clothes!)
-To be in ONE-derland :)
-So I can be able to ride roller coasters and have allll the buckles/lap bars fit comfortably.
-So Food will not define me.
-To be carried by my boyfriend on our wedding day or any other day.
-So I won't mind telling people how much I weigh.
-To sit comfortably in a restaurant booth.
-So I will look younger/healthier.
-To fit into my dream wedding dress.
-So I can sit on people's shoulders in the pool to play chicken.
-To not have to use the bigger arm band to check my blood pressure at the doctor's office.
-So I will save money on not only food, but medications needed in the future if I develop heath issues.

My Inspirations

  • My handsome Boyfriend, who introduced me to Keto.
  • My Family, my future kids, and grandkids.
  • To be able to run the LA Marathon again, after 3 completions.
  • To be able to play beach/ gym volleyball again, as I did in College.
