(RE: friend requests. I'm really not looking to have a bunch of friends on MFP. The majority of people on my friend list are people who are already good friends. I'm not trying to be snobby - I just don't want the people who mean a lot to me to get lost in the news feed.
That said, if you really want to be an MFP friend, please send a note with your friend request. I'd like to know who you really are and what makes you tick before accepting. Thanks for understanding.)
I'm a big woman - I have been for a good portion of my life. For the most part I'm happy with who I am and how I look, but I do want to lose a few pounds to ease the strain on my knees.
Why I want to get in shape
2012 (and the beginning of 2013) was the heaviest I'd ever been at 261. The number on the scale doesn't bother me very much because the numbers that represent my blood pressure, heart rate, blood sugar, etc are always very good. But the occasional knee pain does bother me, as does the fact I don't move as well as I did when I was younger.
My aim is to get back down to 200 lbs. That's when I felt and looked at my best - yay hour-glass figure! Also, I refuse to stop being active and, being the stubborn person that I am, I plan to be active well into my dotage.
But ya know what? If I don't get down to 200 lbs., I'm okay with that. I'm exercising nearly every day and my body is rewarding me for getting it out and moving it. THAT is really exciting to me!
- Those in their 70s who are more energetic than I've ever been, even in my teens.
- They inspire me. I want to be like them when I grow up!
